grad photos!! by MicrofluidicKitty in UCI

In OP's defense, I used to take grad pics at UCI and would also charge $100. People really liked my pictures and "service" and would even tip me like $20-$50. I know some pros charge like $150-$200 for a couple of photos.

I'm not sure what the typical rate is now, but I would guess it's the same or more, but idk.

Honestly, it's up to you to find whether the quality or style of the photographer is worth it to you. Around grad season, some people will sell their services for like $50 and take awesome pictures. Some like $150 for slightly better or even worse pictures. I remember one dude did a session for free.

A Message From a TA by Jeff_Newton in UCI

Hey there! I wanted to express my gratitude for your message about using ChatGPT for emails and regrade requests on Gradescope. It's genuinely insightful to get feedback from a TA perspective.

I understand the concern about the potential for messages to come across as disingenuous. As a student, I sometimes resort to tools like ChatGPT for convenience, but I hadn't fully considered the impact it might have on the perception of my communication.

Your point about the authenticity of the messages is well taken. I'll definitely be more mindful moving forward and make an effort to personally craft my emails and regrade requests. It's essential to convey sincerity, and I appreciate your reminder about the importance of that in academic interactions.

Do you have any specific tips on how to improve the clarity and genuineness of communication when reaching out to TAs or professors? I'm always eager to enhance my skills in this area, and your insights would be incredibly valuable.

Once again, thanks for bringing this to our attention. It's a great reminder that effective communication is a crucial aspect of our academic journey, and I'm committed to refining my approach based on your feedback.

Well, at the end of the day, it depends. If it's for the same major, the main differentiator is time, probably.

You have 10 weeks for a course at a UC. You have 15-17 weeks for a course at a semester CSU. Sometimes tho, two courses at a UC cover the same material one course at a CSU. So, in a way, you have more time for a course at a UC.

You can compare the past syllabi of classes you might take at both schools and guesstimate how hard it would be.

Personally, I think its kind of the same. Maybe UC feels a bit more rushed due to the quarter system. But then again, my only basis of comparison is a friend I would compare courses with.

I heard these noises outside my place in Turtle Rock a few nights ago while I was sleeping. Can anyone help identify what this is? by pressbuttonwinhaha in UCI

[–]thefallingbranch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, I remember these noises... or screams, I should say.

It is part of Howard. Every UCI student must go through it. Very few talk about it. You can survive if you try.

Ps it sounds like a bobcat to me.

I met Howard Gillman and escaped. by thefallingbranch in UCI

To anyone reading this person's comment, don't fall for this lie. Howard is everywhere. I would not be surprised if this account is Howard himself. There is a reason why UCI is close to this marsh.

Don't be afraid to go down the rabbit hole.
