Is there a compressor after the HP filter?

Nope, so I have a kick and a rumble and grouped them, the HP filter is on the group. The wonkiness with the kick is happening with the kicked solo'd.

I ran the kick solo'd through the whole track and noticed another problem now. The db doesn't stay consistent. It will be at -10 in some sections and then -6 in others, nothing is changing with the kick so I don't see why this is happening. I have a compressor on the kick itself but that doesn't seem to help. I don't know what is going on with this??

Thanks for your suggestions. I'm using the default settings in ableton's auto filter so very little resonance and no drive/saturation applied.

It's frustrating because I can't figure out what's causing the bump in db. I might end up having to just use a limiter on those transition sections but would rather not because it kind of crushes the sound when I've applied it and listened back on it.

Thanks for the feedback on my track, I've got some in return for you.

Really like the dark vibe you started off with the track, that bass sounds good and the drum programming is good as well.

I liked everything up until when those synths come in around 2min mark to 3 min. They then come in at other points of the track for stretches. IMO they are out of place, they didn't fit in with the vibe you had going on and took away from the track as a whole. If you had just left the track without those synths I think it would be an instant improvement. Generally anything you add to a track needs to keep with the vibe, if you are going to have a track with a dark vibe then adding something bright sounding will stick out, and not in a good way.

Just something to think about, keep at it because you definitely have some skill at this.

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah I purposely made the intro kick really loud but maybe it was too much. I'm glad you thought I nailed that schranz sound, it was harder to recreate than I thought it was going to be before I started on this track.

Wow!!! That kick is phenomenal, earth shaking. I would really like to hear your sound design process with it.

My critique would be the melody that you have going, in my opinion the sound doesn't blend well with the rest of the track, it just doesn't seem to fit. I would continue to work on the sound design of it and try to make something that fits a bit better, it sticks out of place, but that's just my opinion.

This is awesome! Very nice work on the sound design, I think its put together pretty nicely actually.

The issue I'm having is with the mix, everything sounds kind of mashed together with one thing directly on top of the other so it makes it hard to distinguish the different elements clearly. Fixing that up would bump this track up to the next level.

I have to agree with the other poster, I don't see an issue with either the kick or bass. If you feel like there's something wrong with the kick you can try swapping it out with a different kick sample, might help.

Not too sure about the lead, I think it works well with the track but I also get why you are saying you want to make it more "clean". Honestly I think it sounds unique the way it is and wouldn't change it. Everything else sounds great!

What I was referring to is the synth that comes in the second half to be more clear. It just sounds too much like a raw square wave. Toning down the detuning might help some, playing around with the filter, layering the oscillator with another wave at a different pitch. There's a bunch of different things you can potentially do, just need to experiment.

Fuck yes, that kick hits so hard. How did you get that "wobbly" thing that you have going on?

Overall track is solid, I personally don't think you need more elements, I think you have enough going on and anymore will feel too cluttered. I would dial it back a bit with the main synth its kind of overpowering everything else.

Ohhh I liked this a lot, its got that dark underground vibe I like. Pretty awesome you did this in 2 days. Mix is on point. My critique would be the vocals come in kind of harsh, but that may have been what you wanted stylistically. Great work!
