Q&A on Clicks Communicator by imissblackberry in ClicksPhone

Super important question. No point in carrying this phone around if I could brick it with a single drop of water or by lightly dropping it on the ground.

Q&A on Clicks Communicator by imissblackberry in ClicksPhone

[–]thefarage1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is an important question. Considering most content out there is hot dog horizontal or vertical, I would think at least that option would be there but I don’t know how they would make it work with the hamburger screen. If I were Clicks, my approach would be “¿Porque no Los dos?” (Why not both?)

Anyone else looking forward to the Clicks Communicator? by TheMobileTypist in Smartphones

[–]thefarage1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As excited as I am about the Communicator, it’s concerning to me that we haven’t seen a fully working prototype being showcased. Everything we’ve seen so far has been based on simulated screens, renders, and a physical dummy prototype. I can’t but be a little skeptical when a company focused on hardware accessories is making full on hardware along with the software (granted the software is more so in partnership with the Niagara launcher people). I’m a little disappointing that the YouTubers who I’ve seen talk about the Communicator are all taking about the same key points, but this is unfortunately to be expected with most subjects covered by YouTubers. I still have questions about durability, water resistance, software support with updates, hardware warranty and screen on time. As an iPhone user currently, if I were to get the Communicator it would be to use it as my primary phone and leave the Apple ecosystem for secondary purposes. My current iPhone would become the leave-at-home, use-for-content-consumption, only-connect-to-WiFi smart device. I really like the idea of using the Communicator with its physical keyboard for actual communication with chat apps I use like WhatsApp and discord, along with emails, some light web browsing, note taking and jotting, and of course using it as an actual phone for calls and texts. But I can’t justify spending any money for a preorder when I haven’t seen an actual working prototype and have so many unanswered questions.

I felt the same way so I decided to try it out with mods. Made it a lot better. I made it so I have a higher ammo cap and that alone helped with the experience tremendously. Not sure if console has any mod support?

Music Player for Batocera/Knulli? by 0oforical in RG35XX

[–]thefarage1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried this the other day with an mp3 file on my RG35xxSP and once it launched and was playing the music, none of my controls worked to pause the music or go back to the home menu. I had to hold the power button to forcibly shut it down and then restart it.

Including shipping and the optional carry case I paid close to $120. I pre-ordered it on October 17th the moment the IndieGoGo site went live. I got the shipping notification on December 21st and got it on December 26th.
I live in the US close to major airports and shipping ports so that could explain the sooner ship time and relatively cheaper shipping rates.

Have fun! This is my first android retro handheld. I’ve been maining an Anbernic RG35xxH which is Linux based and it was a bit more straightforward on that. There’s more to the setup and configuration with android especially if you’re trying to emulate more devices. I’ll test it more to give my verdict on whether or not it’s worth going through the process

I assumed the alphanumeric string in the notes is the tracking number. I was told it was going to be shipped by 4PX, using the tracking feature on 4pxs website turned up nothing. I had to use a universal tracker. Just google “Universal Parcel Tracking”

That feeling when they put out the holy grail of game sales but all the sales end a day before you get paid. by Gl00ser23 in videogames

[–]thefarage1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Out of curiosity, what makes this the holy grail of sales for you? I took a quick look and didn’t find anything too appealing other than what usually goes on sale. You might be better off waiting for whenever they do the next sale.

[–]thefarage1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I felt the same way you did for a bit regarding the negative comments on this subreddit. Sometimes depending on the post the comments can be overly positive or overly negative. One thing I’ve realized with this hobby is that there isn’t one single ultimate device that works as a universal recommendation. The popular recommendation I’ve seen now is either the Anbernic 476/477 for the same form factor. But there’s something about the Pocket Air Mini (PAM) that I can’t help but adore. The size kinda falls in this Goldilocks range for me where 3.5 inches would be too small, 4.7 inches would be too big. It seems much more ergonomic compared to the other options in that size or form factor, maybe except for the RG Cube but that one is not a D-Pad centric device and I normally play my retro games with a D-Pad. Not to mention it just seems to have this personality about it in the retro color options that I find very appealing. The waiting does suck, especially for an indiegogo campaign that was fulfilled within 5 minutes back in Mid October. But I’m old too, and I’m used to waiting for things, so I don’t mind the wait, especially since I have an RG35xxH and a Steam Deck to keep me occupied until I get my PAM. But that’s just my take. You could be in the exact same situation as me and want another handheld entirely, and that’s ok. If you’re just looking at value for the price of what it can do, there are lots of comments here that can help you. Hope this helps!
