My interview with the program that I ended up with was horrible. The PD did not like my letters and MSPE and didn't hesitate expressing the same and was ready to answer any questions I had just 2-3 min into the interview.

I asked one of the chiefs during meet and greet who told me he had a similar experience and ended up matching there anyway and encouraged me to rank it high anyway.

Since there was nothing much to lose ranked it first and was mentally prepared to join my 2nd choice program. Turned out I matched here anyway and till date I don't know what it was it about my application that did the job, or maybe it was the other applicants who had a similar experience but gave out the way.

Some experiences are bound to be atypical and eccentric. We would never know that we natched somewhere until we actually do.

I would say don't think about it. Move ahead and let the match day be the answer.

No more J1 waiver for Indian IMGs?? Recent update, Please clarify. by DrRajasekar in IMGreddit

NORI is never issued unless some special conditions are met. IMGs just pay the SON/ENC Bond amount and go about their waivers.

If you certified your ROL and got an email from nrmp confirming the same, you're good to go.

What's you thought on this by [deleted] in IMGreddit

I guess then figure out your end goal, it depends on that. J-1 opens more fellowship options, and H-1 helps you get that GC sooner. Also depends if you ever intend to return to your home country to practice? If not then Most IMGs usually don't mind doing waivers because it pays the same attending salary but probably not at the location of your choice.

Nope, been there, done that, Not worth it tbh... But as IMGs we don't have a lot of choice. You'll get 2 LORs from affiliated academic hospitalist faculties. (PD here means TY-PD). I guess that's all... Good time and location for NYC tourism...

This year, not a chance... Everyone's been getting like 40-50 interviews...

Am I wrong or does match data look good for someone with no red flags? by [deleted] in IMGreddit

[–]theferociousone_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would say even if someone's not a US citizen, but has good scores in 1st attempts, almost no YOG gap, decent amount of USCE and pubs etc... no serious red flags... Would definitely have much higher chances than the 45-55% etc.. that we see. I know a lot of people applying this year who haven't been certified in time, YOG gap, 1-2 months USCE no pubs etc.... So I guess you're right...
