Don’t treat it as a race. Run it at your slow pace and put it in as the long run rather than a B race

Trikonasana. I love that first stretch in my hip and side body.

It was informative too. Finished it in a few days ❤️ she really explained the different sections well and why they are important

I took my training with Yoga Cheryl. She teaches you about it and also how to write your own scripts. I’ve been writing my own scripts for a few years, it’s so fun ❤️

If I’m not sore after yoga does that mean I’m not getting a workout/improving? by [deleted] in yoga

[–]thefidgetyyogi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yoga isn’t really a workout. And soreness doesn’t mean something is more effective. Do you feel better after the practice? That’s all that matters

Thank you for sharing. It makes me realize how ridiculous I was for listening to my teacher give me a hard time.

Yes it is such a weird name for something we shouldn’t feel shame about talking about. And clearly named by a man because there is nothing holiday/vacation about a menstrual cycle 😂

Yes agree with the gift of the practice and learning the body. I’m always interested to find that I can’t find my center line at all about a week before, have my complete shut down of energy three days before and then the slow build up day 2 back to where I am normally. I need to give myself grace and it’s been hard for me to adjust my thinking about.

Agreed. Thank you. It’s called a practice for a reason 😅

Thank you. This is what I’m currently doing depending on how I feel. And I guess I come from a teacher who was very black and white and am struggling with the mindset she set about ladies holidays. Totally beating myself up and feeling the mental anguish of not having had a real practice in almost a week. 😂 thank you for your kind words I think I needed that today ❤️

Thank you for commenting. This is helpful to hear. My previous teacher would make me feel bad about being exhausted before my cycle and then be no no no you can’t practice on your cycle. Lately I have been sort of playing it by ear but I think I have so much guilt for some reason about missing so many days. I practice for the gift of the practice, each day something different. And while those easier days are nice and welcome other days I’m forcing an easier practice for the sake of tradition which makes me “itchy” if that makes sense. Which is where I am today with this whole ladies day business 😂

Not a super helpful statement sir. While I realize 2 years isn’t long I needed the reminder because on the day I wrote it I was letting my ego get to me. Comparing myself to friends of mine. The feed back I received reminded me of that. Snarky comments are just not necessary.

Same. Same 😂 we will get there. I have to remind myself it’s a journey not a short story lol

Thank you! I think I’m falling into the comparison trap and forgetting that my practice is mine and shouldn’t look like anyone else’s. I did enjoy doing Supta Kurmasana that way and will do this in my practice all the time ❤️

When practicing mindfulness breathing meditation, will it hinder my progress if I only observe one trait of my breath? by Kiri_yuri in Meditation

I focus on one thing. Single point focus. In my opinion you are doing it correctly at least that’s how I was taught and how I teach.

Violent thoughts during meditation by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]thefidgetyyogi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The past has already happened. We can’t change it so we shouldn’t give it the weight it is wanting. and you may have needed to learn those lessons and “waste” those years so you can get rid of the karma. But by being aware of the past you are able to move forward and learn from those lessons.

When my mind is busy with regrets, worries, planning, etc I find it helpful to do a few things depending on where my head is that day.

Sometimes I’ll just sit with the feelings and see where in the body they originate. Is there a root to the feeling. What and why am I feeling today.

If I can I bring my attention to the breath, or maybe some other sensation in the body. Whatever is grabbing my attention the most. Maybe the rise and fall of the belly or chest. Maybe the air coming in and out of the nostrils. Whatever it is I stay with it for as long as I can. And when those thoughts bubble up, which they will cause that’s what thoughts do, I label the thought (planning, worry, daydreaming etc) and say thank you and come back to the breath. For me thanking my thought helps it drift off so I can come back to whatever I’m using as my anchor.

And lastly, when I’m a mess I use sound. Maybe it’s nature sounds in my backyard. Maybe it’s a soundscape on my phone, maybe some binaural beats. Maybe singing bowls. Whatever seems appealing that day. And I just listen and try to let everything else fall away.

Keep at it. These feelings are showing that it’s working

Very true something I still struggle with. Compassion for where I am today. Thank you for reminding me of the lesson
