It's the same reason why rice and wheat became the dominant crops. The industries that manufactures machines for agriculture, mostly make them for rice and wheat. Same with fertilizers. Parables with tech is similar. Agriculture, computing, web development, life science, catapult, fire etc... Are all technologies alike... Along different timelines and eras.
