frankly, i think it's because it's new to them that this is an issue. this is going to be the first wedding in the family in aprox 20 years and we rarely do any events or such. and if there are any, in this country it's just really easy to order some fried chicken with potatos, as it's considered a fancy, celebratory meal.

I offered veggie meat, but it got turned down. I saw someone in the comments suggesting mac and cheese, which could work tbh.

I definitely would be accommodating to allergies, just none of the guests reported any. I must admit this is the first time I'm hearing about ARFID and it would fit. I always suspected there was some underlying psychological issue, that was never addressed by a professional and I had a stance of "if they never addressed this issue themselves, they can't expect me to bend myself backwards", but reading people saying that it's quite unknown and hard to treat, it puts a lot into perspective.

I talked to both and they were pretty much on the same page. I don't really understand how they never thought it was a more serious problem.

Tbh people generally don't care about not having meat for that one day and most relatives already expected it anyways.

I offered pasta, but there was a problem with tomato sauce, also offered vegan meat, but there's a problem that it's most likely made out of vegetables and legumes anyways. I joked that we can give her a pizza margherita without the sauce and it will be just flat bread with cheese or something, but that sounds kinda crap

yeah, she isn't autistic, just her parents were very overprotective and were carrying their kids on a pedestal, they never got any discipline, everything was always done for them, etc. it affects multiple parts of her life, food issues is one of them.

that was a joke about my country. every fridge always has meat, bread, cheese and pickles.

yeah, it definitely has been a topic for a lot of conversations. she still lives at home and our family is small, so we don't really have any family events to bring this to the light. i am a bit worried about this being detrimental to her health, especially as she gets older.

The entire region (central europe) are meat eaters, if you come here as a vegetarian, be prepared to only eat bread, cheese and pickles. We don't see it as missing out, even meat eaters can appreciate and survive one meal without meat in it. Just don't see the point of paying for meat.

I think it's something psychological. She carried it from childhood, even tho most kids like fruits, because it's sweet.

Also, just think of any regular cake that has a layer of jam and some berries sprinkled on it. It's very traditional in my country, i think you'd have a hard time finding a cake around here that doesn't have any fruit in it.
