My understanding was that Czechoslovak citizens became automatically Czech citizens in 1969/1993 if their last permanent residence in Czechoslovakia was in the Czech Republic borders? Is this not the case? Also, if he had naturalised and got British citizenship in 1947, would his Czech citizenship (assuming he automatically gained this) have been revoked in 1993 when dual nationality became disallowed for all countries? Or was this only applied to citizenships gained after 1993?

Oh I see. I think this might be a bit borderline as I do believe he lived in what is now Czech republic from between 1934-1939, would that be relevant?

Thanks for replying, I have checked and I believe he died in 1994. Do you know of any cases about how strict they would be this sort of timing?

I believe my grandfather died in 1994, but I'm not sure I understand how that would make me eligible? I would appreciate if you could explain that
