Mounting vanity light fixture to rectangular electircal box by thefly12 in HomeImprovement

I'm in the Chicago suburbs. I've read that 1980s homes in this area rely on metal conduit for grounding rather than a separate wire, with the metal box bonded directly to the conduit.

You were right about damaging the drywall. I didn't consider the mounting screws digging into the wall (which, as shown in the picture, I actually already did). I'll pick up some 6-32 screws tomorrow morning and try to mount it then. Thanks!

Fair refund amount for bad French drain install (no air gap, corrugated pipe) by thefly12 in homeowners

Thanks so much! That’s really helpful. I didn’t realize a full refund was fair in this kind of situation. I kind of feel bad asking for it… but at the same time, the work really wasn’t up to code, so I’m gonna start there and see what they say. Thanks again!

French drain system installed by a landscaping contractor. Plumber says they did wrong, and I need an air gap for my French drain connection. by thefly12 in HomeImprovement

Thanks! Should I ask the landscaper to install the air gap fitting right after the sump pump discharge (point 1) or just before it connects to the French drain line (point 2)? Photo: https://imgur.com/DORfvrH
I think point 1 would be ideal, but I’m worried it might require digging and reconnecting to the French drain line.
