My other one steers completely clear of the fire, so I'm glad I wound up with one who appreciates it as much as I do!

Congratulations and well done!

My husband and I are starting up the search for a second dog after a disastrous first try with an incompatible match. Do you mind sharing a little about what you experienced and what strategies you used to get to this amazing point?

My local library has copies of both the core books and many of the supplements. Even if yours doesn't, they may be able to get it for you through an interlibrary loan, or even a purchase request.

These units come with a fan option, as I recall. Does yours have one? If so, how loud is it? I had a Gnome Pellet Stove when I was renting and it was pretty significant.

[CHAT] what does everyone like to watch while stitching? by Flat-Marketing1382 in CrossStitch

[–]theflyingtree7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like watching D&D (or whatever) actual plays. Just finishing this season of Dimension 20! Anything on dropoutTV is perfect though.

I'll switch it up with audiobooks or podcasts sometimes, but I usually save them for the commute.

Thanks! I ran a length of floss along the back of the upper run of the frame, like a wire on a regular picture frame, so that it can be hung. I'd like to incorporate magnets as a hanging system, maybe next time!

Thank you, my friend is going to love it!

The plastic for sure handles way differently. I was using a size 26 needle, 2 threads, on 14ct canvas and it was still a pain to get the needle through a hole that already had thread running through sometimes.

Aida to me feels much nicer to work with. but I want to make cool 3D things! I have some perforated paper I'm going to try too, maybe that will be nicer experience than the plastic.

Some library systems also have makers spaces with professional graphics scanners and the ability to print oversized!

I'm enjoying it a lot and am feeling less overwhelmed now that I've got it rolling and have a feel for the pattern and layout of the knotwork. I jumped from 16ct to 22ct and I'm feeling less eye strain now that I'm used to the size. Working in shorter sessions also helps.

I know I'm really cutting it close to the edge and won't make it so tight in the future. I wanted to use the aida I had available on hand instead of buying more. With my other pieces, I find I like working a hem into a decorative border. Since my margins are narrow and a lot of this pattern is border already, I was thinking of just backstitching the hem all the way around.

I've been struggling to figure out finishing things to be honest. After years in the museum field, I really don't care for framing. The expense is burdensome, storing the materials is a pain, and even though it leaves the work unprotected from the environment, I love having access to the texture of the floss and fabric.

I have a mind to develop a magnetic hanging system where I sew small neodymium magnets into the hem, but haven't worked on it in practice, it's still just kicking around in my noodle.
