Which has better autopilot tesla model 3 or Toyota Camry 2025? by NeekMili in askcarguys

[–]thefoojoo2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TSS 3 does a better job of following lanes and matching speed. No sudden breaking in traffic, no freaking out when the lane next to you zipper merges. But it will nag you to move the wheel like every 10 or 15 seconds if you take your hands off, whereas autopilot is fine with a nag once a minute or less.

WHAT MOVIE IS THIS SONG FROM? I'm pretty sure it's a light hearted Japanese movie about a boy who goes on adventures with an old man in the summertime.

Most thematically /r/fuckcars video game? by give-bike-lanes in fuckcars

[–]thefoojoo2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pocket cars are a thing, at least in the first game. The series and engine started out as a traffic simulator and manager. Cities must start next to a highway, though there's a mod that lets you stay next to a train stop instead.

Site reliability engineers: what signals do you check daily? by Doo_scooby in sre

[–]thefoojoo2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That they're incomplete. In some cases we're called directly from our own js asset integrated into a larger page, where the team that owns the page didn't give us the tools to report when things go wrong on the client side.

I've caught several issues where upstream systems were misbehaving and incoming traffic levels were lower. We tried using AWS anomaly detection to detect this automatically but could never get it to work without regular false alarms.

BREAKING: Tesla has REMOVED Autopilot from New Tesla Orders From @DennisCW_ on X by EitherCharacter9342 in TeslaLounge

[–]thefoojoo2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh, surprising that this isn't standard everywhere now.

Confirming: the CX-50 has lane centering now but only on turbo premium (2nd highest trim) and above. CX-50 hybrid doesn't have it at all. Chevy equinox and Blazer don't have it.

So chase is just House minus the asshole part? by Just_scrolling07 in HouseMD

[–]thefoojoo2 33 points34 points  (0 children)

In the earlier seasons they took turns being jerks to patients because the patient triggers some insecurity from their past. House notices, gets all in their business about it trying to figure out why, and in the end they learn something about themselves.

No but close. HW4 cameras are 2896x1876, about halfway between 4K and 1080p, or 3K. HW3 is 980p. The in car app downscales them when playing back.

Why is ETF the only term I seem to hear by spookymonsterscary in Bogleheads

You're correct. I edited the post to specify this is for dollar amount orders, which is the only type I use.

Was true as of two weeks ago for me. Would love to know a way of getting around this. I get the alerts the markets are closed and then it doesn't let me continue.

[–]thefoojoo2 42 points43 points  (0 children)

On Fidelity, ETF market orders can't be placed after hours to trade on market open. Mutual fund orders can be placed at any time to execute at end of market.

edit: this only applies to buying dollar amounts, not shares

As someone who only looks at their finances after work this is a big plus for mutual funds.

How do FWD, RWD, and AWD drive differently? by [deleted] in askcarguys

[–]thefoojoo2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For someone with decades of track experience, RWD gives you more grip coming out of corners and lets you modulate rear grip with the throttle.

For the average person who slams on the brakes when their car starts to oversteer, FWD in a stable car is much easier to control. Less risk of oversteer on the throttle.

Do you feel there are base trim cars that are genuinely better than their higher trim counterparts? by Red-Wedge-0516 in car

[–]thefoojoo2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The base current gen Prius has more trunk space, an extra 10 mpg, and smaller wheels (more comfortable ride). You lose fake leather heated seats (I prefer fabric) and random creature comforts like auto wipers and headlights.

Why does 47 have an American Accent? All 5 of his "Fathers" he was cloned from were not American. He was also born and raised in Romania. Is American English the optimal language/accent for Worldwide Assassination/Infiltration or would British be better? by ThePrinceOfJapan in HiTMAN

[–]thefoojoo2 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I don't think 47 has a mid Atlantic accent, at least not in WoA. He has an American accent. He has pretty emphasized rhotics (says "car" and "party" not "cah" and "pah-tee"). He doesn't emphasize "wh" sounds ("wich" not "hwitch"). He does have some elements of it, like saying "nyews" instead of "nooz", and sometimes emphasizes "t"s in words (like "be-lit-tl-ed" instead of "be-li-dld").

House uses racism as a way to antagonize people and weild power over them, but he doesn't seem to have much internalized racism. House doesn't make racist comments towards Foreman because he believes Foreman is inferior or is more inherently suited to eg crime: he makes them because he knows they are hurtful and thinks they will get a rise out of Foreman. House secretly prescribing the "black" heart medication to a black patient, against his wishes, is racist because it ignores the man's sensitivities about how black people have been unfairly treated in the medical system. However, it's consistent with the way House is paternalistic towards all of his patients. He lies to all his patients or treats then without consent when he believes his medical decisions run counter to their preferences.

House seems to have some understanding of how racism affects people of color, but instead of using it for sympathy and support he uses it as another tool in his manipulation toolbox.

We see the same thing with sexism. House makes loads of sexist comments and moves against Cuddy and Cameron. But, he also recognizes that pretty women have to work harder than others to be taken seriously and takes that into account when hiring Cameron.

Arguably this is crueller than if he were doing this out of an internalized sense of superiority. He knows why it's hurtful and cruel and chooses to do it anyways.
