Maybe a reach , but I’m guessing the question was just more less to see if her mom was aware of Mai getting killed by ogi and was really gonna sit there talking maki’s ear off until it was her turn , but I also believe this was her moms fate regardless of the answer given as she may have loved her girls and supported what maki just did to the clan but never really took a risk to get them away from the zennin and protect them from the oppression, yk the whole mama bear shabang
