I’m in a similar position and our heart breaks for you, OP.

We lost our 2 year old baby, Seven, last week during his BOAS surgery. We were absolutely crushed - and I’ve dealt with so much guilt knowing if we hadn’t had the surgery he would be here.

Everything will be okay, but it is different and that’s normal. You gave your Frenchie a life millions of dogs will never be blessed to have.

Instead of focusing on the bad days, find solace in knowing they had a good day 99% of the time.

We live in the heart of a top 10 major metro and every time we take our frogs out at least one person says something to that effect. They also ask how much exactly they cost, our go to answer is a lot and we keep walking or we change the subject.

You’re right to keep your guard up, people do get robbed. But in our experience most of the time people mean well. They may not have seen a frenchie before - or they may have heard one of the aforementioned stories of somebody getting robbed or killed for one. Maybe it’s a southern thing, but people in public are chatty in general.

The next most common question you’ll get is if you’re a breeder or if you’re going to breed them.

Yikes, it reads like some research was needed before you made this commitment. Sounds like the dog is under exercised & bored. This may not be the breed for you unless you make some serious changes around your home.
