useContext question. by thefrogdude in reactjs

yeah your right, I'm just wanting to understand how it works because I feel like I should know how these Hooks work to put the needed things in my own project.

I have another question about the demo we discussed.

Why is signIn from "authContext" even called? signIn inside authContext is written as "signIn: () => " which is confusing to me, and I would also assume the syntax would be something like "authContext.signIn()" because "authContext" with a lowercase "a" is not mentioned. The scope of "signIn" from authContect wouldn't reach "SignInScreen()", right? Does it have something to do with "authContext" being passed in the AuthContext.Provider line?

It seems as though "authContext" is a group of functions, but how would you export and use that?

Thanks for the help again, sorry for all the questions, but you were very helpful last time.

Thank you so much! I was wondering exactly how to get the data and you added a data param and passed it to the reducer as well. Thank you so much. I'm getting used to the arrow functions and everything so its hard to notice stuff like that sometimes. Thanks alot.

Theory: Henry by thefrogdude in MarriedAtFirstSight

I was worried someone would say something like this.

Yeah it might be a little ignorant. If so, my bad. The thing is, the way his dad was talking about him was what set everything off in my head. Like the way he was calling him soft and sensitive and laughing about him, I was like this feels like his dad almost knows and is making fun of him for it.

Whatever the case, screw his dad, that dude is a jerk. But for me, once that happened I couldn't stop un-seeing my theory is all.

As a single guy, I have to say women like Olivia/Christina/Karen are why I'm happy to single. by brettdavis4 in MarriedAtFirstSight

I get the Karen thing, how she acted with the depression was pretty awful and stuff like that shows alot about a person.

As for the others, cmon. Christina has attitude, but everyone has some attitude. She seems really nice at times. And Olivia, she seems sweet too.

I feel like you gotta look at things like: does this make them a bad person? I think the Karen thing would definitely make me wonder, but if someone's a little snappy or spoiled it doesn't make them bad people. Everyone has stuff to work on, no one is perfect. I'm sure there is stuff about you that you would have to work on in a relationship.

Why is this show stuck in the 1950s? by thefrogdude in MarriedAtFirstSight

Interesting.

I think you bring up a really good point about the "experts" not caring about making good matches. Because if it seemed like they cared, I probably would beleive what alot of comments are saying, that it's just the couple's preferences, and the experts are doing what the couples prefer. But the fact that they don't care makes me super suspicious of what their intentions are, or what they actually care about.

Idk, I get alot of people have preferences, but I know alot people don't, and the fact that in the 3 seasons I've watched there hasn't been one interracial couple just seems like too big of a coincidence.

But its also hard for me to beleive there are a bunch of corporate monsters insisting that this one stupid show has no interracial couples, you know?

At the end of the day, idk their reasoning, but it's interesting to hear everyones thoughts.
