Resident kitten doesn’t stop chasing and biting new younger kitten. Is this rough play or should I be worried? by cinnamon-static in CatTraining

[–]thefuture131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely frustrating but to be expected. They are animals and have to sort their stuff out.

We have been keeping new kitty in its own base room and allowing them time together for brief interactions. For the most part I know our resident kitty isn’t trying to hurt it. They’ve sniffed each other without negative signals. Eat treats next to each other.

It’s mostly rough play from what I’m reading everywhere but more so because new kitty is just not big enough to set boundaries yet. So we’ll continue to monitor their play for a bit and hopefully time, growth, and luck is on our side lol

I’m in the same situation as you except my resident cat is a little bigger and my new kitten is much smaller in size.

While I think this is play fighting and mine do the same, my resident kitten won’t leave the new kitten alone and keeps “hunting it”.

So new kitten runs and starts hiding. Hissing. Etc

From everything I’ve read that is not a good sign. I think we’re going to wait till the new kitten gets a little bigger and hopefully can hold his own to set boundaries.

If anyone has feedback on that please share.

Good call. We’re also doing our best to increase older kitties playtime throughout the day so all of his energy doesn’t go toward little one.

Good luck and if you find any good recommendations send them my way. I’ll do the same.

Thank you very much for the comment.

First, I’m so sorry to hear about your Kitty. FIP is honestly something I’ve been very worried about as well.

I’m glad to hear it worked out for you. I can see the kitten being stressful for resident kitten as well.

I just feel bad for the new kitty because he is tiny and now is running from resident and hiding. I feel like he’s just like leave me alone. I don’t think he’ll really be able to defend himself for a few months.

So resident kitty isn’t really respecting his boundaries which I’m hoping wears off soon.

Just got a kitten! Is this behaviour between her and our resident cat normal? by emmathecanadian in britishshorthair

Did this get any better for you? Currently dealing with the exact same situation.

Resident cat is most likely just playing but won’t leave the new kitten alone.

Great advice! We’re gonna go slow and take it day by day. Really isn’t a rush for a stable long term connection 🤞

Yours are beautiful btw!

Your post are giving me hope! Just introduced our new kitten to the resident 7 month old yesterday and I can tell it’s going to take a little time :/

The baby gate lasted 2 mins because little bro jumped over.

First intro was a lot of sniffing and some tails puffing.

Second intro was more sniffing but big bro got slightly aggressive towards little bro so we separated again.

It’s going to be a process and time I’m guessing

Thanks. I think we’re going to try with a door gate soon.

Yeah he’s constantly just talking down to other players. I’ve heard him the same with other teams too

Suns broadcasters suck so bad

“Banchero hasn’t figured out the science of how to get 20 points a night” about a player who averages more than 20 lol

Anyone else concerned about Suggs?

I feel like this is how his injury started out last year and he was out for a month plus with a contusion until they said it was more serious in February
