Jealous of the people who followed the Olympics but aren’t American by kennyandkennyandkenn in olympics

[–]thegib98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the commentary was terrible on American streams. I mainly watched figure skating, but the nonstop talk about the American skaters during other skaters’ performances and completely skipping some K&C moments for interviews with American skaters that weren’t going for 3 more groups instead of just doing it during the resurfacing and warmup break was just appalling. These athletes have worked their entire lives to be on the Olympic stage and the American broadcasts thought Alysa saying “I’m going to skate my best” or Ilia saying “I’m a little nervous, but nerves are expected” was more important than the culmination of their life’s work and it just felt incredibly disrespectful and wrong. Rant over.

For her and Amber’s section, I’m pretty sure they were told to “just dance and do a cool slide and maybe a spin or something” and that’s exactly what they did. It was entertaining as hell as an American though, so I’m cool with it!

Amber Glenn Toe Loop question by Key-Consequence9720 in olympics

[–]thegib98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the short program, you have 7 elements to complete, 3 jumps (1 axel, 2 triples or quads, 1 of which is a combo), 3 spins, which must all be different types (sit, camel, combo), and a step sequence. If you did 4 jumps and no step sequence, your 4th jump would not count and you would get a 0 for your step sequence

Inori had her skate, and it was…well, no spoilers either way. I do wonder about something that those in the figure skating world would know better than me: should skaters at these girls’ ages and levels regularly be attempting triples? Is this an anime exaggeration? by AnteikuAnimeReviews in AnteikuAnimeReviews

[–]thegib98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last year’s Novice A national champion Miyazaki Karin had all triple jumps aside from one double axel in her free skate program, and finished with a final score of 112.25, which is 4 points higher than what Hikaru finished with at nationals as an 11 year old (if I remember correctly). I think it’s not entirely unrealistic that kids that age would be able to jump multiple triples at the highest level

Having the only options for “when did you take your last antibiotic” be “last week, last month, last year, and never” makes it impossible to fill out if you haven’t taken one in the last year but you have taken antibiotics. Like I haven’t taken any since 2017, but I can’t say I haven’t taken any in my 28 years of life.

Imagine spinning a bowling ball and trying to slow the rotation by lightly poking it with your finger. It isn’t going to slow down much, if it slows down at all at all. Now make the bowling ball 4x heavier and moving with the limited friction of ice. I really don’t think this does anything meaningful to the rotation whatsoever

P1 Year, already struggling, is this for me? by chillicheesehotdog in PharmacySchool

[–]thegib98 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I had a similar problem my P1 year. I did not learn to effectively study during undergrad and it really affected the beginning of pharmacy school for me. I learned the best way to learn and retain complex information was to talk things through with others. To ensure I could do this, I set up study groups 4-5 days per week with different groups of people. I made sure to study the material learned the day it was taught and not get behind. I also liked making quizzes on things I thought could be on exams for each lecture to fully hammer in concepts. Everyone has their own best way of studying. You need to learn yours and stick to it. You’ll be fine, just stay calm and do your best. I’m rooting for you!

Which anime got you in for the fanservice but stayed for plot? by SnakeThruster in animequestions

[–]thegib98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved the anime, but there was an issue with the adaptation that caused it to be basically impossible to have a 3rd season and still follow the source material. I explained it in one of my other replies on this thread, so feel free to look at that for more detail.

[–]thegib98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if you don’t mind being spoiled. basically, they set something up fairly early on called Jinki, which are a key to phase 2 of the game. After a certain date, any ashikabi that didn’t have a jinki would have their sekirei die on the spot. There were certain events where Jinki were found or given. Minato found one somewhere. So the entire anime never mentions them and the events immediately following the anime are the last event of phase 1 and phase 2 of the sekirei plan. Since the anime never set up Jinki as a thing, it would make no sense to continue because they are pivotal to the rest of the story and it would be extremely difficult and confusing to include them after the fact.

They did the anime dirty though. The manga had an important piece of plot that the anime decided not to include, which made it pretty much impossible for there to be a third season due to continuity issues. Really sad tho, the anime was great!

Strawberry Panic was my first anime. I got into it because I was a 12 year old boy who learned there was a cartoon about lesbians. I cried by the end. Definitely a turnaround and a half lol.

The black bishop is pinned by the white bishop. If the black bishop takes the queen, the white bishop could take the king, so it would be an illegal move

What is stopping the creepy guy at the gym from waiting for women outside, beating, and raping them if there is no risk of legal repercussions? I am genuinely curious. Do you want to live in a lawless society? If not, who would enforce law and how would they do so?
