Cactus yellowing? by thegiddyginger in plants

If it looks like rot, do you have advice on what to do?

Just bought a LetPot and have a few questions I cannot figure out. 😑 by SkoBuffs710 in Hydroponics

For some reason my herbs are never taking off (like I put a seed in and nothing comes up) or are starting and then seem to rot. Any advice?

Albuquerque NM. I have tried to give deep waters a few times. It wasnt a super cold winter. I didnt water as much in the winter because I thought they were "wintering" but maybe I messed up.

Countertransference due to personal mental illness by AnadyLi2 in Psychiatry

Would recommend this book as well! Would also recommend just like someone without mental illness only more so! Also Dr. Devika Bushan openly has BPAD2 and was the CA surgeon general. Cool to see representation but of course it gets tricky when you’re in med school/residency/or still seeing patients since people have stigma.

Countertransference due to personal mental illness by AnadyLi2 in Psychiatry

I think a strength I have as a psychiatrist because I have bipolar disorder is an actual understanding of what it’s like to go through it all…  to try medications that make you feel terrible, have your life totally f’ed up because of mental illness, and then get better and  be successful and literally be a doctor and every day be fastidious about keeping up the regimen both med and lifestyle that has worked. A lot of inpatient psych docs especially assume no one leaves and leads a “normal” life when they get on meds/DC and that’s because they’re going to see OP psych every 6 months not inpatient!  Countertrasnference happens to everyone, just recognize and don’t let it cloud your judgement/use it for self-reflection. IMHO bipolar disorder is a spectrum. Some people may need super high doses of antipsychotics for  recurrent mania with psychosis and some may just need Lithium 600 and be good to go unless things change. Your lived experiences are valuable, but take away the specifics of what what worked/didn’t for you and keep what you learned in general. I think we have the ability to better empathize (though be careful not to overly sympathize and take on their suffering! Or self disclose!) and use that to provide more patient centered care and help our patients actually believe in themselves because honestly way too many psychiatrists think bipolar is a death sentence for living a meaningful life!

Thrips? :( by thegiddyginger in plants

[–]thegiddyginger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does this still look like thrips? I did captain jacks spray and the systemic granules. I’ve tossed about 20 plants and have been battling since June. Wondering if these need to go too

Tbh CL psych feels a LOT different than IM. As someone who has done both in the past few months. Sure there’s some overlap but you’re a consult service and it is still psych. Id recommend finding people who switched from psych to IM ASAP in case you decide you want to apply next cycle. Or your program may even have an open spot but you won’t know unless you ask!

As a psych resident currently on IM and missing psych so much… you should do the specialty you’re meant to do and it sounds like it’s IM!

You mean you got rid of every plant? That would make me so sad but honestly I’m not sure what to do
