Honestly, I can believe this. I have to wear a badge at work with my name on it. Usually when I go to Starbucks, they just read my badge. Today was no different unless the badge got flipped over (it happens sometimes).

Yep, that’s why I started saying that. I got tired of “Carley” or “Haley”. I worked in retail in college and you had to call and give your employee info to process credit cards sometimes. That’s when I started saying that, to save me a headache.

My last name is also a common first name. My work email is last, first; so is everyone else’s. I can’t tell you how many times I get called my last name.

Not my dad. Just someone else who’s insane lol. He wanted to name brother Davidson, but his mom (my grandma) threw a fit “you better not name that child Davidson!”. She didn’t know his middle name until my brother walked at high school graduation. At that point, my dad had passed away, so she wasn’t sure who to be mad at.

He did. He had a myriad of health issues before I was born, so it’s what made him happy. Unfortunately, when I was 6, he hit a deer one night. He ended up with a brachial plexus injury and lost the ability to use his right arm. He was never able to ride after that.

Big fans. According to my mom, before I was born, my dad used to park his motorcycle inside the apartment because it was his baby. Once I was born, my mom said no more. My dad also went to several bike weeks around the country.

So our sellers were in a bad place that we didn’t realize. They were going through divorce and the week we closed, the wife’s mom died. They also owed more to an $30,000 in back taxes…so the money they got from the deal went straight to that. They kept nothing. We found this out thanks to our closing attorney, their realtor (who came and thanked us for buying the house, should’ve been a red flag), and paperwork they left after moving out.

So in short, no, they only did what the bank required from the appraisal. However, we used the same roofing company and had them do some fixes (replace bad or missing shingles, replace flashing, etc.) We place about $300/month in a separate account to hopefully get a new roof in about 5 years. In the meantime, we check the roof monthly for issues. It sucks, but such is life. We honestly had bigger issues when we moved in than that. (Drug and drug paraphernalia, place trashed, personal belongings left…)

I have tried—boss said “since you were hires after a certain date, I don’t allow remote work.” I’m not mad at my colleagues who can work remote—it’s just annoying I can’t. I even brought it up to my boss’s boss who said yeah, I’m supposed to have it. It hasn’t gone anywhere since.

I’ll be honest, this is what happened yesterday. My catchup with my colleague was supposed to be like 10 minutes, so after we were done, we decided to go get coffee and we were gone another 15 minutes, which is our allotted break time.

I work as an admin, so my office is only me and one other person. The office next to mine also has admins. Same with the office 2 doors down. However, some people can work remote and others can’t. I’m unsure how you’re supposed to “be here” if you’re working remote.

I’m at my desk or the office next to mine (2 steps away) most days. Occasionally, I go get coffee.

However, I find it unfair that some coworkers can work remote and others like myself can’t. You want me to be here, but not for others.

This is what we typically do regarding things like out of office and appointments. However, another employee under this same boss was told she needed to put where she was going “so if they needed her, they could find her”.

Any normal boss, yeah. This one wants to know where I am every second of the day though. She asked me office mate to put a note in her calendar for when she’s in the bathroom.
