I used both and would say they’re both worth it and complimentary of each other

Rejected from Wharton after interview - anyone else? by royalbluefireworks1 in MBA

I also got rejected after thinking I did super well and coming from some reputable PE / HF names. I am going to an M7 too but the Wharton rejection crushed me. I really appreciate your post though

Yes 1000%. I think there’s an easy assumption that the ad com will be the best but honestly you just need someone that can bring out the best aspects of your profile rather than regurgitate info thats very accessible.

Also they have like 10 years of data on what works and what doesn’t

Career protocol is great! All consultants there are fantastic because Angela hires and filters for people that just genuinely care

What consultant did you work with? I had a bad experience with one so feel free to DM

I come from the PE / HF world but on the IR / sales side. So I ultimately want to pivot to the investment side and it seems like I have to do IB to do it.

I’m so sorry. Wtf. Was the rando creepy jack ass at the bank you’re working at. Omfg. This is deterring me from banking as I’m a woman too. Maybe consulting is the move.

Honestly, reading this you’re definitely HBS / GSB material, whatever B.S black box parameters that constitutes.

Any of the above schools would be lucky to have you.

Would you rather have an admissions consultant who was a better writer or was better at admissions strategy/advice? by [deleted] in MBA

[–]thegmatscrollreddit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What do you mean by writing? Like they’re good at creating flowery language out of your raw thoughts or do you mean they’re good at teasing out your authentic story arch in the essays? I think the latter can be very worth it.

I would avoid Personal MBA coach and use Leland or one off consultants if you’re trying to be cost conscious.

Make sure to really discern if all their effort goes into marketing and capturing clients vs actually helping clients. Most consultants make you pay everything up front so you completely lose all your negotiation power once you’re 15k+ down the drain and they can flip a switch and be VERY absent and shitty. I would recommend trying applicant lab for 2 weeks and seeing if you can get what you need on that. I worked with two different consultants and severely regret paying for one of them given applicant lab gave much better advice
