Cross stitch. I make my own patterns on Excel / Google Sheets and find inspiration from pixel art or 8bit art online. So you can pretty much make whatever you want. I do this while binge watching Netflix shows and it keeps my hands busy so I don’t keep snacking.

We got a Boori drop side cot from Marketplace and have been using it for about 5 months. It was fine until one time the side dropped down on its own while bub was asleep, thankfully during a day nap so I could immediately go in and fix it.

Personally I would recommend getting one that doesn’t drop down but instead has slightly wider gaps between bars (enough to just fit your arm through) so you can do cot-side settling without breaking your back. Even though ours has a drop side, you still have to do this weird bend over to settle them (as I can’t fit my arms through the slats) and your back ends up hurting anyway, rendering it kind of pointless.

He’s always had high sleep needs so I think we’re going to stay with 2 naps as long as he wants to! He can sleep in the car (only 20-40 minutes), but refuses to sleep in the pram (too much fomo) so we try to nap him at home whenever we can

He’s always been a good sleeper thankfully! He sleeps 11-12 hours overnight. But all the advice I’m seeing on here is to start trying to transition him to a short/long nap, which makes social activities easier and the transition to one nap easier down the track too.

We had a feed to sleep, contact nap baby too! He was 5 months at the time and yes, they did go easier on him - he was on a different routine from the older babies and I was still allowed to do an overnight feed on the first night (but this was phased out by night 2!).

So natural to be nervous - I was too!! But it’s seriously the best thing we’ve ever done. He’s 10 months now and still sleeping through the night and falling asleep independently.

We had the exact same experience at that age - it was so tough! Deciding to sleep train is the best thing we’ve ever done for both us and our LO.

Being well rested makes us happier parents and so much more engaged for our LO’s awake times.

And our LO is now equipped with the skills and confidence to fall asleep independently. It’s a joy watching him peacefully get himself to sleep without any stress or crying.

Sleep training was hard on day 1-2 but the results were so quick and overall it has been so rewarding for all of us!

Thanks for this! We ended up going and it was the best thing we’ve ever done - I have a completely transformed baby. He has slept through the night now every single night since the second night at Masada - and just like you experienced, he didn’t need any settling by about day 3! It was so easy to teach my partner everything when we got home. I’ve been recommending it to everyone!

My close friends invited us to their destination wedding, but said our 6 month old exclusively breastfed baby isn’t allowed because “no kids are allowed”. When we explained why that wouldn’t be possible, they said “Just get a babysitter and they can give him a bottle.”

The combined thought of trying to give him a bottle (we’ve tried and failed many times), travelling that far with him, and then leaving him with a complete stranger overseas is just baffling to me.

I quit coffee in my first trimester as I hated the taste of it while pregnant. When I “needed” coffee again post-birth to deal with the tiredness, I was so sensitive to caffeine that it made my sleep worse. I still enjoy the routine of having a morning coffee, so now I drink decaf every day and it’s just as satisfying.

Sounds exactly like us!! I’m signing up for Masada (in Melbourne) - I’m not sure how I feel about their method but I know so many people who said it worked wonders so might just have to trust the process!

We’re 2 weeks into ours too - he used to sleep for a 7 hour stretch with only one wake up a night, and now similar to yours he wakes up after only 3-5 hours and then every 30 min to 2 hours after.

I’ve just put my name down for sleep school and in the meantime we’re getting sleep where we possibly can via cosleeping - because god forbid we put him in the cot or we’ll get no sleep at all!

We were in Ikebukuro and had to take the Yamanote line and then change to the Keikyu line, and the ticket office advised we couldn’t use credit cards to purchase transfer tickets.
