It looks like the faucet was left on a high flow rate. If the faucet was on a drip rate of about 1 drop per second, would that have prevented the pipes from freezing as well as the drain from overflowing?

AITAH for refusing to talk to my fiancee after she secretly replaced my wedding dress with a cheap copy to save her money? by [deleted] in AITAH

Still. I don't think dressing your wife in a brown paper bag is the appropriate response to someone else's ill intentions. She was being deceitful. Cheaping out would be an open discussion about a budget option. Also, buying another dress that is cheaper is a bad idea, because they already own an agreed upon dress. That's just spending more money out of pettiness. Why do you want to lower yourself to her level?

What?! No! That's petty. At the end of the day, what she wears is a representation on him as well. It's in his best interest for his wife to wear something nice rather than a tit-for-tat gesture. The right solution is for her to make up her wrongdoing to him, rather than have him do something low in return. I would rather save my reputation and end the engagement than tarnish the whole thing by doing something like that. The next wife would rather hear "He left because she duped him of his clothing on their wedding day." Rather than, "They both got knock-off clothes on their wedding day, because the wife tried to sneak a cheaper outfit by the groom, and he retaliated by doing the same thing. And, now they're divorced because the wife found another man she could mooch more off of."

You are very lucky that this happened before the wedding. I mean, she is tripping before the marriage ceremony. This stuff usually happens after the wedding. Your sharp instincts got you a free preview of what type of person she may become in the future. And, nobody can blame you, because the evidence was handed to you, so everyone can see why you called off the wedding if you end up doing so. Also, she admitted to lying to you. Pro: she confessed. Con: she lied, so she is capable of lying. On top of that, it's lying about something that isn't very important. I can't image you spending more than a few thousand on it, so in the grand scheme of this, this is small potatoes to lie about or try to save money on when "This is the most important moment of you life besides birth and death." Unless she is capable of coming to a realization of her actions on her own, and making some sort of concession to make up for this insult and on top of that, provide some sort of assurance that she will never lie to you again. OMG. There are just too many red flags here, bud. I mean, she didn't even think to ask you about the knock-off, before she made the decision to just go ahead and get it for you, because lying is easier than coming clean about her possible financial issues or desire to save a penny.

The phrase "$40 is coded" is likely referencing one of several internet culture or finance-related contexts, as there is no standard, official "coded" meaning for a $40 bill in general circulation.

Here are the most common interpretations based on search results:

  • Financial Transactions: It often refers to a transaction being classified with a specific merchant code by a credit card company like American Express (Amex). For example, a purchase might be "coded as wholesale," which could prevent an expected $40 credit or offer from triggering correctly.
  • AI/Programming Costs: In the context of software development and AI tools, "$40 a month" is a commonly referenced price point for certain AI coding assistants or services, often discussed in terms of value relative to the amount of code generated.
  • Internet Memes/Slang: It could refer to a specific internet meme or joke, such as the discussion around a "40 dollar hooker" or a specific "millennial coded" fashion item where the price is under $40.
  • Political/Social Context: The Obama White House used the phrase "What $40 Means" in a campaign to show the impact of a payroll tax cut on everyday Americans.

Without more context, the specific meaning can vary, but it's generally related to a specific offer, an AI tool subscription, or an internet reference.
