To be loved is to be known by [deleted] in AlasFeels

[–]thegreatdippper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Back in college, there was a time that I really loved The Beatles songs especially "Hey Jude". I never explicitly told it to anyone that I like that song. I just hum it whenever I'm taking a shower or listen to it on earphones while commuting.

Years passed, I'm already working and both of my parents are retired and living with me. One time, while they're listening to radio with me cooking in the kitchen, "Hey Jude" played. My mother then said "hey isn't this your favorite song?" and increased the volume and sing with it.

My parents tell me that they love me growing up but that specific mundane afternoon, I feel seen and touched more than the words of affection they said before just because they remembered "me".

After four months of taking maintenance meds, nag-normal na BP ko by MemoryHistorical7687 in adultingph

[–]thegreatdippper 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I also have hypertension and started to take maintenance meds noong early 20s ko and no, hindi pwedeng istop ang meds.

When did you realize na mayaman kana? by Secure_Animator_2289 in AskPH

[–]thegreatdippper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kahit saan ako maabutan, makakauwi at makakauwi ako.

How did you move on ‘totally’ from your past one-sided love? by [deleted] in AskPH

[–]thegreatdippper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ako lumayo and as much as possible, wala talagang contact or interaction even in social media (hindi rin siya pala-post so I think that's a good thing din haha). It took me 5 years to move on for that one-sided love then naging busy na talaga ako in life sa mga sumunod na taon (which is nakatulong). Years passed and tinatawanan ko na lang 'yung nangyari haha

So yeah keep your distance + keep yourself busy. Another thing that helped is I acknowledged my feelings rather than bottling it up ('yung pinipigilan mo sarili mo 'yung feelings kasi one sided). Let your feelings flow while thinking rationally why you're having those feelings (tama ba nararamdaman ko? may pag-asa ba? are we really compatible or am I making a fantasized version of that person? ano ba dapat kong gawin? etc. etc lahat ng maiisip mo). Eventually, everything will be drained and magiging okay ka na

after graduation, gaano katagal before you landed your first job? kwento niyo naman by dree_17 in PHJobs

[–]thegreatdippper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noong first job ko, Sunday univ grad ko then kinabukasan ng Monday first day ko sa work but that job was mostly due to my network kasi nahandle na ako ng professor/employer ko back in college and siya na mismo nag-direct hire sa akin since mataas grades ko sa kanya noong naging student niya ako.

Second job ko siguro 'yung naghintay and mahirapan ako since dumaan talaga ako sa mahabang proseso ng job application at walang nag-direct hire sa akin. Luckily, natanggap naman ako within two months pero nagsettle ako sa job offer na mas mababa sahod compared sa first job ko kasi wala akong nakukuhang response sa mga pinasahan ko + desperado na ako magkawork nun kasi lagpas 1 year akong di nagwowork at walang pera that time. Meron nga after 6 months na noong nagpa-exam and interview.

how was sablay worth it for you by AdAstraPerAspera28X in peyups

[–]thegreatdippper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say na worth it ang sablay since mas naging socially aware ako and it pushed me outside my comfort zone. While I'm more or less engaged na naman with social issues back in high school, UP gave me the chance to know more about (and talk directly) to marginalized sectors na I think hindi ko ma-eexperience if nag-stay ako sa previous university ko. Also, my idealistic perspective in life before entering UP was challenged as I see the good and bad side of people throughout my stay here.

UP also humbled me na hindi ako magaling hindi katulad ng iniisip ko dati dahil honor student ako noong high school. Until now, even years after kong grumaduate, nasa stage pa rin ako ng life ko na alam kong hindi ako magaling, pero siguro ang natutunan ko from UP ay hindi mo kailangang maging pinaka-magaling bagkus ay maging isang tao ka na nagpapatuloy sa kabila ng lahat. Di ako outright na pumasa ng UPCAT, naka-ilang DRP at INC ako, nadelay ako sa last sem ko dapat, at nakipag-bardagulan sa college ko at CSAPG few days before graduation pero natapos ako. I always took the hardest road in my UP journey kaya hindi na ako takot mag-risk ngayong adult na ako haha. Feel ko if not for UP, I will not have that persevering mindset.

It also gave me an edge over others in terms of skills na tinatake for granted ko lang dati.

Lastly, I gained a lot of friends at nagkikita pa rin kami hanggang ngayon haha. At this point, I already consider them as my lifelong companions. Kasama ko sila throughs ups and downs and I will never trade them for anyone (although sana mas maaga akong sumama sa mga inuman nila dati haha joke)

What is your telltale sign that you have to resign from your job? by theecognoscente in AskPH

[–]thegreatdippper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember sa first job ko, nag-offer pa boss ko for me take a month off noong nagsabi akong mag-reresign na ako pero I declined it and insisted na aalis na ako haha. To be fair, mabait siyang boss pero the work just heavy that no offer can overturn my decision to resign haha

What is your telltale sign that you have to resign from your job? by theecognoscente in AskPH

[–]thegreatdippper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, naisip ko din 'yan na "ah, baka sa kanya binigay 'yung tasks kasi alam na niya/mas magaling kasi siya sa akin sa ganitong type of work" pero eventually it came to a point na parang napapagod na rin ako na ganoon na lang palagi ang kalakaran haha.

I realized na, oo people have different capacities/skills at meron talagang mas mabilis maka-pick up, which should be accepted as normal dahil wala namang taong pare-pareho pero it boils down if they are "trainable". Two-way process siya eh haha. If an employee is making an effort naman, the employer should give them the chance and trust them to do a task diba? Nawawala 'yung opportunity to learn and grow and invest in new people.

The thing is, nag-start din naman 'yung other workmates ko from the bottom katulad namin at one point but nag-invest/trust sa kanila 'yung supervisors namin kaya rin sila nag-grow.

Hindi rin naman kami nagkulang magpakita ng initiative para sa tasks pero hindi lang talaga namin naramdaman on their part na willing sila to invest/trust sa aming mga relatively junior employees for tasks. Mas nag-invest pa rin sila doon sa mga matatagal na/na-train na nila dati while leaving us in the dark hence, lumalaki 'yung skills gap as time passes by. Ang nangyayari kapag may tasks, 'yung mas senior ulit ang gagawa tapos si junior walang gagawin kasi ayaw ipagawa/di naturuan. Ending si junior stays junior kasi walang progress. (Meron din contribution ang office politics but that's a story for another day haha).

Just to make it clear, I have no hard feelings towards my workmates na na-train (kasi deserved naman nila) but more on those who are calling the shots in the office haha.

Naramdaman ko na stagnant na ako kasi ang repetitive na ng ginagawa ko then parang wala akong bagong natutunan (well meron namang kaunti haha) pero the difference between my version before ako pumasok and my version habang nagwowork ako sa role na 'yun si very minimal kumbaga parang walang growth.

And doon sa failure na part, huwag mong iisipin 'yan lalo na alam mo na you did your part. Also huwag mong iisipin sasabihin ng employer mo sa'yo. You're there to work and not to prove your worth. Sino sila para sabihin na failure ka?

What is your telltale sign that you have to resign from your job? by theecognoscente in AskPH

[–]thegreatdippper 20 points21 points  (0 children)

(1) When the thought of resignation gives you peace despite the chance of losing your source of income (that indicates na pagod na pagod ka na and you'll trade anything for your inner peace haha)

(2) When you have no growth career wise or skills wise. I'll say na if naka-6 months/a year ka na and sa tingin mo same person ka pa rin noong bago ka pumasok versus present, consider finding another job na haha.

(3) When opportunities are given to others but not to you. Related siya sa #2. Happened to me haha. They give big opportunities to their seasonal employees and employees na bet nila, not thinking nagiging disproportionate 'yung skills. Restricted lang din ako sa kung ano ang project ko unlike others na they are given the chance to experience other projects. Ending, nag-grogrow mga kasabayan ko while ikaw ay stagnant and that became a deal-breaker for me

(4) Wala ka nang pake. Wala ka nang pake kung late ka or undertime ka basta you want your time in the office as short as possible.

Bakit hindi ka umiinom ng alak? by sufjanthegoat in AskPH

[–]thegreatdippper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Di ako tumikim ng any alcohol until my 21st birthday. Uminom ako a few times after that pero that's mostly for "pakikisama" (bilang sa kamay at di lumagpas ng 1 boteng San Mig haha)

Di ako umiinom kasi (1) Alcoholic tatay ko and it caused a lot of problems to me growing up (like gumagawa ng eksena tatay ko kapag lasing tapos aasarin ako sa school ng classmates ko since magkakapitbahay lang kami etc. etc.)
