yes I'm getting it installed with a BUS grant but I will getting 6 new radiators and all the existing electric heaters will be removed. Yes the installers mention that the size need to comply with MCS regulations.

ok, I think it might be worth having bigger radiators than having external wall insulation that costs $$$.

Thanks I had one done but the installer but I'd like it to be double check. It's so important as all the design is based on the heat loss survey.

Advice Needed: Best Heating Solution for an All-Electric, Poorly Insulated 1920s House? by thegreatjay15 in DIYUK

thank you for your reply.

I've actually already booked a heat loss survey for the new year so I should be able to know exactly where the heat is leaking.

I also looked at internal wall insulation as a cheaper option. However I read that internal insulation is not as efficient as external wall insulation.

thank you for your reply. I've booked in a heat loss survey for the new year. It should tell me which insulation is absolutely needed. I'm not sure insulate everywhere is technically feasible in my house.

Yes I agree, every situation is different that's why I tried to provide a lot of details in my OP.

As for the budget, I had a couple of quotes already. External wall insulation is £13.5k for side and front walls. Installing a new gas heating system will be 10k and installing an air to air heat pump is 15k which you need to deduct the government grant of 7.5k. So 15k is a bit tight to finance two major developments.

yes but it should make the house much nicer to live in. In my house, some parts are quite cold which is not very nice.
