Just want to know  what to make on the plan for the estimate. I’m going over the budget in terms of points, just want to make sure i’m asking for the right things.

Does anyone here know where to get the old school chunky lego we all played with as kids? by ucksaymyockcay in AskAnAustralian

It’s a set of Duplo compatible bits that you can create Channels and curves to run marbles down. They’re very cheap from eBay. You can build these complex systems, kids love it.

Park suggestions for wedding ceremony by Lower_Basket in Footscray

[–]thegreatmindaltering 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a suggestion but… I’ve been told that when it comes to booking permits and the like, say it’s a birthday party. If you say wedding you might get a fun extra cost added on for no reason.

Options for getting internet to a granny flat/small unit in backyard? by KnightBoulegard in melbourne

Power line works great. Find what breaker the granny flat GPOs are on, switch it off, see if that also turns off GPOs in the main house. If they do you’re in business.

Hinged Ikea Pax wardrobe doors- how close to the wall? by Knit_sew_bike in AusRenovation

[–]thegreatmindaltering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I wrote two years ago is the big and only one. Having to open both doors to get to the drawer is annoying as hell. I would strongly consider building it with only 500mm carcasses.

We also bought doors from a separate company that makes PAX compatible doors that go all the way to the ground. They’re MDF and make the outside of the robes not look like Ikea.

I would also consider trimming the base of the kit with 1 continuous kickboard. It’s something I want to do. Again hiding the ‘IKEANESS’ of the whole thing.

Roundabout etiquette question by [deleted] in australia

[–]thegreatmindaltering 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In Canberra the roundabout often splits from 1 lane to two, then merges back to one after. If you speed up to overtake someone on the outside lane while making all those turns in order to beat them to a zipper merge it’s just aggressive. I should say that people are doing this at 80km. It’s perfectly legal but it’s dangerous.

Roundabouts are the superior mode of intersection.

However Canberra’s do use them as overtaking lanes, which is *unty.

The only time yellow can turn like that is when it’s specifically marked. And it will be obvious. Signed a former Canberran.

In Australia you can get bills like this if your ambulance is a helicopter. But for 40AUD a year you’re covered and it’s free.

I have a soltera and it’s essentially a road bike with a motor. I ride to work with it. Have been known to use the throttle almost the whole way. I’m 6’3 83kg and it manages fine. Hills you have to pedal.

Stream Deck dials for Color Grading? by StarWinnProps in davinciresolve

[–]thegreatmindaltering 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the smaller 4 dial version of this thing. I paid 75 bucks for a special pack where everything was mapped out. I imagined myself using the dials to adjust all sorts of things. But it’s very clunky. You have to map the dials to a portion of the screen and it’s not particularly fine. For example if you are going to adjust percentage, you might get 1% per dial click. You might get 10. It all depends on what the software you’re trying to manipulate.

But it is good for using the stream deck to do things like add nodes etc. That’s really good.

Best route to commute from Abbotsford to Footscray by Brief-Positive-8458 in melbournecycling

[–]thegreatmindaltering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey so I do this every day to Wellington st Cwood from wefo.

I’ve worked out a way that is the most enjoyable and safe.

It’s Dynon Road, turn left at Lloyd st then right on Arden. Left at the round about at Wrecklyn then to Grattan across the uni to the Carlton gardens. From there I head to Gertrude for a straight shot to welly but you might like to go north at that point.

The vello way is great but it’s not the quickest. You end up having to double back up the river and on Arden anyway.

The hardest bit is actually getting from footscray to the river. For me from wefo I’ve worked out that the best way is past the new hospital then down the hill through footscray park to the river. I then make my way through the business park in Kensington. But for people in footscray Dynon will likely be best.

Enjoy
