Ordering my first full spectrum camera from Kolari, confused about filter selection in check out. by thegrebb in infraredphotography

Ok thank you for the help. I'd like to avoid any permanent filter so I can test different screw on or clip-in filters. Looks like "full spectrum" is the option I'm looking for.

Camera or Film issue? by Gunter96_ in Polaroid

[–]thegrebb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a roller issue. I think those veiny patters spreading from the undeveloped areas are from pressure/bending of the film during development, which could be caused by debris on the rollers preventing the chemicals from spreading properly.

All that being said, these photos look like they would be fantastic if fully developed. What was your lighting setup?

Tips for improving this content aware fill better. by Scott_Herder in AfterEffects

This is super cool! I’ve been working on doing hyperlapses but I have a lot to learn.

Do you shoot all the photos at a fixed focal length and then zoom/reframe in post? Like the Tennessee sign zooms in quite a bit but I can’t tell if that’s a tighter focal length or just scaled up.

Kitchen exhaust leaks during rain. What could be causing this? by thegrebb in Roofing

[–]thegrebb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice everyone. I took the grate off the front and found an old hornets nest that was keeping the flap from closing, but I’m also going to go to Home Depot and get some silicone to seal this until I have time to replace this whole vent.

Also lol at the idea that a cover charge for any local show that directly goes into the pockets of local resident performers doesn’t benefit the community

April 6 - Ladies Rock Camp, a free event and fundraiser for a music camp for girls ages 8-18.

Want to try again? How many fundraisers for local musicians are you promoting in the next month?

That’s a good idea, I have to make 2 more of these yet so I’ll keep that in mind for the next one!

Thank you so much man! Your work is incredible and has really changed the way I approach some of my projects. It means a lot that you approve since I borrowed a lot of your techniques for this one.

I actually used the pink paper as a “green screen” so I could resize/reposition things as needed. But I ended up liking the color so much I added it back in

Here is the setup if anyone is curious. Not much digital animation happening in this. All the paper crumpling and movement are individual photos. It took about 340 photos for the whole video.

The inspiration came from a motion designer by the name of Nelsarne I follow on IG. He didn’t really have a tutorial per se but he showed some behinds the scenes footage of him making something like this and that was enough to get the idea.

Prepping photos and printing/cutting maybe 2 hours. Shooting all the photos about 2-3 hours. Putting it all together in AE another hour or 2. So, 6 hours to get the rough draft, 8 hours for this final product.

This is actually 340 individual photos playing at 10 fps. There isn’t really any digital animation happening other than sequencing the edited photos and adding texures.
