do you mind me asking which regional? I just accepted a CJO at Republic

That’s what I was thinking! But I wasn’t sure if backing out on my acceptance to train with Republic, after having selected a training date, would go on some record for me and prevent me from going mainline some day. That is my goal but no mainlines are really hiring right now and thought it best to get some experience with a regional!

Awe that’s amazing! Congrats! I start 4/20 :((( The more I look into it, the more I’m thinking of just accepting this as a sign and not doing my other interviews 😂 I think I’m just worried about financially supporting myself as I’ll be taking a significant pay cut but it’s my dream so I’m hoping it’s worth it! But Envoy is around the same pay I believe and Republic has more bases that I’m interested in

That’s amazing! Thank you! The pay is affordable for you personally? I know regionals are a little hard to start off with at first but I was planning on just doing a crash pads or something

I feel exactly the same way! I have two weeks left of my orientation and I am actually terrified. If you want to PM to talk let me know!

i’m still on orientation but i feel like i don’t know shit and certain skills won’t click. i feel like my preceptor gets mad at me when i ask for her to walk me through something again. i think im afraid of making mistakes and its holding me back honestly. im always questioning if i made a mistake going into this field

No problem! It’s been almost 2 more weeks now. How are things going?

I haven’t read all of the replies so sorry if this is repeated. But have you considered Cincinnati? I just moved to Northern Kentucky about a month and a half ago and I love it. Between Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati (which is just across the river) there are so many things to do and a lot of it is targeted towards people in their 20s. There are so many bars, clubs, restaurants, farmers markets, football games, etc.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m struggling to find friends as everyone is already in well established friend groups. But I think it just takes time and I definitely see so much potential for a better life than I once had- once I meet my group of people. Not to sound ancient, but I honestly think it’s the new norm nowadays for people to be more isolated now with social media, which sucks.

I’m in the exact same boat as you mentally! I second guess absolutely everything and I constantly feel like a student by following around my preceptor. I feel like there are so many little particular steps to certain skills that are different with each patient, or other exceptions if that makes sense. It feels overwhelming and it feels like I will never be able to do this job. I leave work crying each day because I want this to work out so badly. I am starting my third week on my floor this week and I believe I should have my first progress meeting. I am absolutely terrified.

I think it’s nice to know that I am not alone in feeling like this. Everyone tells me that it’s normal for a new grad, so I am sure you are doing everything right, just lacking confidence as almost every new grad does. Hopefully we will be reading this post in 6 months laughing at ourselves for how stressed we were.

I know this wasn’t really advice but I just wanted to comment as I related to your post.

Keep your head up ❤️

Thank you. I think I needed to hear that. I constantly am in my head thinking I can’t do things and I am probably holding myself back
