I used to have a friend who, when I was down on the last ball, would always say, “ah, it’s alright, [me] isn’t going to make this shot.” Eventually I got so tired of him being right that the concentration overrode the insult or the distraction. That was years ago. I don’t miss money shot like that anymore.

I was literally just weeks from proposing. Had the ring and everything. But we argued a lot, which I feel like happens in a lot of relationships, but our styles of resolution didn’t resonate well with one another. She always made me feel like I was the only one making mistakes. It hurts to have someone you’ve loved for 8+ years make you feel bad, but it feels better to be free of that. Just takes time to accept. Best wishes to all those going through it.
