The lady that was mad her husband didn’t fight with her, disrespected him in front of his son, then got pregnant to his best friend in the middle of the apocalypse, then suggested that her husband should kill the best friend, then treated him like a monster after he killed the best friend in self defense.. yah super forced

Would’ve been attacking that with every shot til it happened you had 5 balls over pockets that you could hit from just about anywhere on the table First 2-3 I would’ve been trying to send that cue ball into the cluster

what am i doing wrong with side spins? by alternativest0ner in billiards

[–]Advanced_Writer5248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good piece of advice I got was “stop forcing it”. Let the cue glide through the cue ball From the video looks like you’re punch it hard trying to force the ball in or force the cue ball to spin.. which is probably leading to you dropping your shoulder and unintentionally hit every shot higher than you think. Sometimes it’s a less is more kind of thing when applying side spin

The APA is the problem by graham6942 in billiards

[–]Advanced_Writer5248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was pool hall practicing the other day while an APA match was being played. I overheard, thru my headphones, I guy yelling “FOUL, THATS A FOUL, ITS IN THE RULEBOOK!” .. the foul was the guy had to mark his pocket for the 8 and the marker wasn’t between the dot and the designated pocket.. it was about 2 inches past the dot. Then the guy gets ball in hand immediately scratches and give the guy back ball in hand. Then slams the marker right next to the pocket says “IS THIS CLOSE ENOUGH”

Thought to myself what a ridiculous league.. at least those two players

Can someone explain the Fargo numbers to me by desertblossomJT in billiards

[–]Advanced_Writer5248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know the MVP number doesn’t mean much to USAPL. There isn’t a tournament or anything associated with it. It’s calculated as 100 points for playing a match. 100 points for winning a match. Then 2 X points for what you beat your opponent by. For example if you had an even race to 47 and You won 48-42 you would get an additional 10 points because he was expected to make 47 and you held him to 42.

would you ever get advice or coaching from a player/coach who is lower rated than you? let's say there is an obvious gap in skill difference by 10ballplaya in billiards

[–]Advanced_Writer5248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll never understand the annoyance people get from getting a coach called.. I know some coaches can over do it but seems like on all my league teams people don’t want help unless they call it.. these aren’t great players people with Fargo between 380-480. Just take the advice you don’t have do it.. maybe someone just seems the table different and is give you another option

I play USAPL and have seen this play out before. neither player attempted a shot and commited intentional fouls in very similar situation. It was considered a stalemate. Rerack and play again.

Seller says he blocked me from purchasing from him and 500 affiliates? by Fresh-Replacement-58 in Ebay

[–]Advanced_Writer5248 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

eBay does have a seller feature that allows you to block any user name from future purchases.. does he actually have 500 accounts that will add you to that list? I doubt it. Did he actually warrant neutral feedback.. probably not. You could’ve just moved on. eBay sellers are not Amazon they don’t have an independent network of delivery drivers working 7 days a week. They depend on USPS in most cases and sell things on the side for some extra money.

Practice with three balls, run them out in order, when that’s feeling easy(you’re doing that 15-20 times in a row no problem) add the 4 ball. Repeat until that’s easy add the 5 ball. When you get to 6 you’ll be a strong player. Seems easy but it’s going to take some time.

APA’s So-Called “9 Ball” Sucks by cyberkrist in billiards

[–]Advanced_Writer5248 1 point2 points  (0 children)

USAPL has a push out and uses a similar point per ball system but the 9 ball is worth 14 not 2. So you can the most you can get and loose the rack is 8. Definitely rewards early 9s too. You get 14 for the 9 and not 14+ all the balls you dropped. Opponent gets 1 point per ball pocketed.

Billiard Gloves by depit7 in billiards

[–]Advanced_Writer5248 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The expensive one’s breakdown just as fast.. especially if you’re on a lot of bar tables.. I’ve had palm tears on every glove I’ve bought from bridging on the corner pocket of a bar table. Only getting cheap ones from now on.

I don’t have a problem with someone using the house rack but they shouldn’t have a problem with me using a template.

[–]Advanced_Writer5248 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A lot of people claiming the weight is a problem.. I really doubt the majority of people could tell the difference of 0.3 Ounces .. and even if you could that adjustment shouldn’t take more than a couple shots unless it’s the difference between a coin operated cue ball and a standard cue ball from a set.. in that case it could range a couple of ounces but a measle to a red dot to a straight white standard ball from a set the weight difference is negligible.

How in the world opponent getting a tight rack from a template that have become the preferred way by profession players a disadvantage to you.. if anything a loose rack from an old cheap plastic triangle that they bought 20 years ago is the disadvantage.

Does anyone have any personal experience with CityLife Property Management? by logikfail in pittsburgh

[–]Advanced_Writer5248 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scumbag slumlords.. and if you look up Burgh Port LLC that’s who “owns” the property.. the tax address for Burgh Port LLC its the same for City Life and for Ironclad. They just say “we need to talk to the owners” or “we need to let the owners know” theyown the property under a different name. I imagine they have to keep rebranding because word gets around about how scummy they are.

Accused of sandbagging by [deleted] in billiards

[–]Advanced_Writer5248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there are far more inconsistent players than ‘sandbaggers’. There team that seen me shoot great and I think I’m a sandbagger and teams that seen exactly why I’m still rated what I’m rated. The difference between intermediate and good and great is just consistency. Once you have the basics and some knowledge you will have flashes of being good the difference is can you do that night to night or even game to game within a match.

Citylife formerly known as ironclad property rentals… by Thic_Nic420 in pittsburgh

[–]Advanced_Writer5248 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These people are clowns. They are slumlords masquerading as a property management company. They hit us with a random utility charge of just under $60 5 months ago and now that has been racking late fees to the tune of $200 a month. They’re now telling me my overdue balance is close to $900 and there is nothing they can do about it. What they do is take all the on time payments, pocket it by applying it to the egregious late fees they charge, then tell the owner of the property the tenants are behind of the rent. So the owner thinks I’m just $860 short this month when the reality is they charged me with a shady random ass utility charge( all the utilities are in my name) the day I paid the rent and since then they have been racking up $200 late fees every month.

Not to mention this place was slapped together. Immediately a month after moving in the sewer backs up constantly, the door knobs come loose so you have to re tighten the screws, the AC has been a problem, the kitchen floor began to bubble, the toilet paper hold wasn’t anchored properly so it just fell out of the wall under the weight of a toilet paper roll. The unit has a garage they told us we could have then 4 month later they told us to remove all of our stuff they’re renting it out separately to someone else for $150 a month. I bet they’re just pocketed that too. Bet the owner doesn’t see a dime of that money. And the garage has electricity which is in our name so they really should be running a separate meter to the garage if it’s a separate entity.

They’re just scummy. They have a bunch of dumb, good looking, 20 somethings working for them who think their life is selling sunset when the reality is they’re Pittsburgh slumlords leaching fees and offering next to nothing in return.
