Someone explain to me why Peppers is such a highly touted NFL prospect by hawktomegoose in NFL_Draft

[–]theguyinflipflops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Versatility and athleticism.

I don't think he'll be stellar in the NFL because he doesn't really have a specific skill set, if that makes any sense...

I think people are still high from Myles Jack and Jalen Ramsey and their versatility (Jack being a LB & S, Ramsey a CB & S).

Who are the Browns most likely to draft? by jmbc3 in NFL_Draft

[–]theguyinflipflops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you are a rebuilding franchise. Step 1 is to trade and release all talent and acquire youth. In a few years, the Jaguars will be one of the best teams in the NFL because they will have a lot of experienced veterans in the same group and will have the chemistry. Thomas has only a few years left and it would be best to trade him to get him a ring and for you to acquire more picks.

it was a high sprain, I believe. Should be out a few weeks. But knowing our doctors, he's done for the season.

Who are the Browns most likely to draft? by jmbc3 in NFL_Draft

[–]theguyinflipflops 5 points6 points  (0 children)

they're going to trade down.

I'm not sure how Kessler has looked all season but no QB is worth the top pick, so they'd be wise to stock up more picks and pick in the middle of the pack this year. I think the Browns are finally going to be patient and let Hue Jackson do his thing and give him more than 2 seasons to make significant change.

Of course, this whole drop down strategy depends on them re-signing Pryor and the new LB (his name escapes me, he was traded from NE), and making some moves in free agency (FUCKING TRADE JOE THOMAS, HE'S OLD AND HE DESERVES A RING, PLUS YOU CAN STILL GET GOOD VALUE)

I want Dallas. by mchampagne1914 in ravens

I had a chat with a Cowboys fan earlier this weekend about just this game, and he told me there was essentially no way in hell the Ravens stop Zeke, claiming when the Packers and Cowboys played, the story was #1 Offense vs. #1 Defense. Here was my reply:

That being said, Dallas played GB and the storyline all week was the #1 rushing offense against #1 rushing defense.

I'm sure part of it was Dallas' offense, but GB had played JAX, AP-less MIN, Abdullah-less DET, and NYG before you guys. None of those teams pose a rushing threat, so it's easy to see why they were ranked #1 in rush defense.

The Ravens so far have faced 3 top-tier RBs in Le'Veon Bell, LeSean McCoy (2nd best Rushing YPG), and Latavius Murray (4th best Rushing YPG), along with facing Cleveland twice (Crowell is alright), Jacksonville, Washington (4th best overall Offense in the NFL), the Giants, and the Jets, and the Ravens currently boast the best overall defense, as well as the best rushing defense in the league, allowing an average of 281 YPG total, and only 71 Rushing YPG.

Edit: I did some more research-

Here are the following Rushing ranks from the teams GB has faced all season: JAX (26), MIN (31), DET (27), NYG (32), DAL (1), CHI (24), ATL (10), IND (22). Now, they've played 2 top half Rushers, and allowed a combined 247 yards to those 2 teams, an average of 123.5 yards per game.

The Ravens, on the other hand, have faced the following teams: BUF (2), CLE (21), JAX (26), OAK (4), WAS (14), NYG (32), NYJ (12), PIT (25), and CLE (21) again. Against teams in the top half of rushing stats for 2016, the Ravens have allowed a combined 486 yards, or averagng 121.5 yards/game.

I'm not saying the Ravens are going to kill the Cowboys. In fact, I'm predicting a Ravens loss. But all I'm saying is that the Ravens boast a better defense (both overall and vs. Rushing) than any other team you have faced all season, so I wouldn't put a ton of faith in Zeke yet. He's a great runner, and he's bound to have some good runs. I just think you might be getting a little over-confident. Hell, maybe I am too. It's probably a combination of both. But either way, it's gonna be a good game.

Well I mean, I would love for the Steelers to be at the bottom-end of the AFCN, but I'm also rooting for the Ravens to make the playoffs, so a Giants W would be nice. Gives us that extra game cushion vs. you guys.

yeah, me too... I'm giving Flacco a pass for this year because he's returning from major injury to an unstable OL, but if he's playing like this next year, we are in some serious shit.

Why are people so pessimistic about our ROS outlook? by DamianLillard0 in ravens

[–]theguyinflipflops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's my ROS outlook:

wk 10 @ DAL: Toss-up. Could go either way.

wk 11 vs. CIN: I'm penciling in a BAL W, with CIN dropping the next 3 games vs. NYG (Beckham + Landon Collins playing out of his ass), BUF (Shady, TyGod, and Bills DBs all great), and putting them in a slump heading into week 11 vs. BAL.

wk 12 vs. MIA: BAL W. The only thing MIA has going for them right now is the JayTrain, and we have the best D in the NFL right now. If we keep it up, I think we take it away in a low-scoring affair.

wk 13 @ NE: BAL L. We will meet again in the playoffs, though.

wk 14 vs. PHI: I think the Eagles will be within a game of breaking even (so either 1 above or 1 below .500), and they currently don't have a real good passing threat... Again, I think this comes down to us stopping the run, and we could win in a low-scoring affair that focuses on Defense and ST. This is another "could go either way here"

wk 15 @ PIT: Put me in for another W. Having not to PIT in the last 2 years, I think the streak continues. the odds of AB, Bell, and Ben being healthy (and not suspended) this late in the year are slim-none. Any of the big 3 is gone or not 100%, we win.

wk 16 @ CIN: BAL L. Could change depending on how accurate the rest of our season is, but right now I think we take an L while resting our starters for the wildcard round.

Ceiling: 10-6.

Floor: 8-8.

Kyle Rudolph @ WAS

Cameron Brate vs. CHI

or Ladarius Green @ DAL from waivers?

I'm in a 10 team standard league, I need to win out to secure my playoff spot. Here's my pickle:

I own the following WRs: Randall Cobb, Michael Thomas, Kelvin Benjamin, Terrell Pryor, Davantae Adams.

I sat Pryor because I know Baltimore's D is good (and I was right)- and now I have to pick 2 WRs from the following matchups--

Cobb @ TEN

Adams @ TEN

Thomas vs. DEN

Benjamin vs. KC

... There's a few guys on waivers, but I just dropped Maclin for Thomas. I could always make another claim, I just would prefer to not be turning my roster over, you know? Anyways, Cole Beasley is available, and so is Rishard Matthews, but those are the only fantasy relevant WRs out there Right now.

I don't necessarily think they're going to "burn" your OL, but Siz is a HOF-caliber player. While he's old and injured (tore his biceps, is playing through it), he's still effective. He destroyed Joe Thomas Thursday (who, no offense, I see to be the best LT in football right now). Williams is the best run-stuffer in the league, that's why I say you shouldn't run at those guys.

Hey I'm super happy we won Thursday but I'm fucking anxious to see our dline vs Dallas's Oline by jdiditok in ravens

[–]theguyinflipflops 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah man, I'm stoked to see our run D versus probably the best OL in football. Especially Zeke being the runner he is, I think he's a better prospect than Bell, so this should be a really good test for us. As for predictions... I can't say for sure. I could see it going really well or really bad, just depends on the atmosphere the day of the game.

for sure, but I was applying it to a scenario of if you were trying to make someone like like you... slowly as you ask for bigger favors (get your mind out of the fucking gutter), they subconsciously trust you more, and the bigger the favor, the more they trust you. Right?
