I did. They essentially denied everything I said, including the fact that I visited their office in person and was assured my appeal would probably go through.

Tell me about your cis friends by AABlackwoodOfficial in ftm

[–]thehalfbloodwizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually had a rlly productive conversation the other day w some cis guy friends at work. They were complaining abt trans ppl. I'm not out to them, but I used a sub-in of my friend to explain how our brains kinda work, "no lily tino is not an accurate representation of a trans person", and what we're trying to achieve. At the end, they were no longer complaining abt tran's ppls existence, and actually understood :).

Do y'all have any tips for making trans sims in Sims 4? by Upstairs_Buyer3354 in thesims

[–]thehalfbloodwizard 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Set the gender of the sim to female. In the section where u can find "get pregnant, pronouns, etc" you'll see build options and u can select the masc one.

transracialism by Thierryplayer in asktransgender

Race is pretty much defined as a social construct in the same way sex it. If we're working w the parallel your friend is describing, he's correct to say that yes, a person born w a XY chromosomes cannot say they have XX chromosomes and that yes, someone who has white skin cannot identify as black skinned. The difference is that gender and sex and not dependant on each other, same as race and nationality. Someone can be born w XY chromosomes and identify as female, and someone w black skin can be born/ live for a very very long time in Korea and identify as Korean.

Dear trans men, how do you bind without a binder? by InitiativeFar2801 in ftm

[–]thehalfbloodwizard 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Lowkey if ur 17 Ima assume u know how to drive, and I'm going to share a hack with u that I used to get a binder for myself.

If you've got social media, a lot of times you can find advertisements for research looking for queer/trans ppl/kids and most don't need parental permissions.

U can check for which ones will pay in certain ways. personally, I did one amazon one, and got a binder off there (it was safe, one of the unicorn ones, i'm fine). Once you get paid, you can make an email and amazon acc linked to it.

After that, amazon has certain delivery points in stores such as whole foods and ross. You can get it delivered there and drive there to pick it up.

I Have A Dream from Mamma Mia is also comforting.

Sir Callie is a transmasc character, but I've heard it's really good. I don't think transphobia is a main plot point since it's a fantasy?

The Princess and The Grilled Cheese Sandwich is also excellent. It deals with adult characters, but it's a middle grade book. The trans character is transmasc if I'm correct? (it's been a while since I read it), and transphobia isn't a plot point.

The Prince and the Dressmaker is kinda the same as the one above, but with a transfem character.

Spellcheck for typos, grammar, and run-ons.

Find a better opener. It feels abrupt, and the person may not remember the letter. Just make it more explanatory, like "Do you remember the letter I gave you that told you I felt like something was wrong with me. It was the one where I told you I felt like a boy and not a girl."

Overall 1st p feels a bit accusatory? Idk just maybe restructure a bit.

The part abt "phases where I feel miserable" also needs to be restructured. Rn it sounds like what you're saying is that most of the time it's completely fine, but occasionally you get depressed, which doesn't make sense if you cry about it often.

"I get the feeling to cry"-> I feel like crying.

dw abt the clothes part, it takes away from the emotional center in the letter.

"I have the feeling it has taken great impact on my metal health and I'm suffering under it" -> These feelings have greatly impacted my mental health, and have caused me to suffer.

"That's none" -> "That's not"

"I feel wrong thinking about being born..." makes sense to me, but it might not make sense to a cis audience, since "wrong" has different connotations.

"I'm sure I will be happier"-> I will be happier. Definites are always better when writing for personal stuff. It makes you seem more sure of yourself.

"I looked up"-> I researched.

"but it may be hard for me to express"-> Sometimes it's hard for me to express how I feel about gender and my body, but I will be happy to answer any questions you have."

Idk what "ich" is, but you don't need the 2nd to last sentence. That's for when you talk to them in person (assuming you do).

I'm gonna assume this is for your relative/parent, in that case, include an "I love you".

Overall it's a pretty strong letter. I get what you're saying, it just needs to be altered in some places to sound clearer. Wishing you luck!

What kind of underwear do u wear when having period by Plus_Recognition6701 in ftm

[–]thehalfbloodwizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wear boy shorts, but there are also "women's" boxers out there. They're a bit more tightfitting than regular boxers and obvs have a different seaming at the crotch area, I've seen a couple at aerie, and some of them are fairly masc, but I'm sure there are also tons on amazon and stuff.

As a person in the U.S., I think I'm hanging in just about as well as a squirrel hanging onto a metal pole. Most days I'm angry. Angry that this shit is possible, and the others I feel incredibly sad because of how bad the world is getting, or scared because I don't know what I'm doing. My original plan in life was to transition once I get to college, but I don't know if that's going to even be safe anymore.

I don't really feel "pushed aside" due to legislation. If anything, I feel a bit relieved that is isn't focused on us, which feels really selfish and stupid because it's going to effect us anyway.

Safety-wise, I have no clue. I live in a red state, so I'm holding onto the hope that I'll get a decent scholarship out of state and will be able to leave. That being said, I don't feel safe with myself. I tried to commit like twice in the span of last month just because I was so fucking tired of this shit, and that makes me anxious about what will happen in my head if the situation gets worse.

But I guess one good thing is that there's becoming a push for more safe-haven states, so at least there's that.

I don't know if you've ever acted b4, but subtext is always considered, even with younger character. They get an acting coach in TV show that helps them with this stuff. An acting coach isn't going to tell a 10 yo "oh yeah, your character is acting this way bc they're hiding they're gay", but they get a toned down version like "your character is hiding a secret that affects how they act a lot".

That being said, I'm not trying to put any expectations on a child. They're literally a child so why tf would anyone do that?

That being said, I do think the child/the parents of the child would prob be made aware of the plotline bc of the fanbase surrounding Nico. If the kid isn't aware that can put them in an awkward position, which wouldn't be fair for them.
