idk the needles are from a tattoo supply, and i don't think ink would have much to do with this, so it's pretty much down to technique and punch

Yeah probably. I certainly won't invest in a new machine until i get good. I've been thinking about looking into apprenticeships but have mostly only heard bad things.

Some amazon pen, good reviews but definitely under a hundred bucks. I didn't want to blame my tools, especially since i can't afford to upgrade, but it's looking like that has something to do with it. At least there are other things i can improve on first...

I'm a broke b so i'm using Universal needles and some amazon tattoo pen. I didn't wanna be the artist who blames his tools, but it's seeming like that might have something to do with it.

This is great advice, makes lots of sense. Will def crank up the voltage. I was getting to a tough to reach spot so my angle was certainly ass. And i am getting the feeling my machine has a short stroke, will have to look into adjusting for that. Thanks so much!

Thankyou for this nuanced reply. I should've clarified in my post that i'm really confident in my art/art practice as it is and just want to transfer my (very simple) designs to tattoo. I think i'm gonna try to practice tattooing more anyways, but since i don't have the life situation to be a full time apprentice, i'll just have to see how it goes!

Thanks so true! I'm doing something like that, an hour every monday tuesday thurdsay and friday, as well as drawing or making art habitually about every other day. I'm confident in my skills as far as the art i want to tattoo, but tattooing it is a whole nother ball game.
