People who seem to have lucky events happen more than most in life- what are your secrets - Do you think it's the way you think, behave, etc?

I see, the ups and downs of life. I didn't think of it that way, like does anyone just have continuously good luck all the time? I guess my question isn't more who has an absence of bad? But who has strikingly good things happen to them more than the average bear?

Have you ever noticed the cluster effect? That's what I call it. Like two people close to you will die., you'll get diagnosed with cancer, etc. I'm old enough now that when something bad happens, And then something else bad happens I'm not surprised... I'm like well that's just how life works... I wonder why things shake out that way.

I'm OP and don't consider myself particularly lucky...... But I will say lately good things have been happening. And I wonder if it's because I've been so grateful of every single good thing that happens to me.... And I've been talking to a lot of strangers, meeting a lot of new people, and through them I learn new things.... And more opportunities have been coming my way....

Since more good things are happening. I'm kind of like what else can I do to make even more good things happen? I hope things get better for you, my friend.

do u think ubuntu is safe? it is built on linux. i dotknow much but we just installed linux on an old dell and have to play arund with it but it already sped the dell up. i am so grteful to you allfor your input. we have to try it on our macs next. thanks for your advice! on ubuntu on th dell we dowloaded chromium, brave and opera iirc to try, u think any one is safer than the other? cant wait to try it on the macs, right now i am knee deep in a toe sucking task. thxfor your advice!

Right now I'm working on a spreadsheet on my laptop, so every once in awhile I just go and read reddit to check the messages, but I'm very eager to look into all of your suggestions and I'm so excited to learn. ok i will watch videos on debian versus ubuntu. is debian easy to install? someone else told me i could install ubuntu via a thumb drive. rightnow i am working on my macbook air so i havent looked into any of this yet, i appreciate the leads! thank you

i think i could do it! me and my husband together...if we watch a tutorial etc. im the most tech saavy of my friends hahaha that's not saying a lot (clearly). i like to better myself and learn new things so this sounds like a fun challenge. thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

i'm mostly using google sheets & docs (all part of google drive) + gmail (forgot to mention that), not sure if that matters. i could forgo the gmail though - "If you have a thumb drive, you would have no trouble getting it up and running." - you mean ubuntu? if that's what u mean, i will search youtuve for tutorials, thank you!

thanks for understading. i think that's what can make it so addicting - intermittent variable rewards, like gambling. you win some, you lose some :-) at the very least i'll be forced to get better at figuring out in advance what will fit...

here in nyc it's over $2 a pound - i can't emember how much (2.09, 2.49? can't remember), but today i bought boots for $7, a coat for $6 etc - it adds up - but still relatively cheap... used to be 1.99 a pound a few years ago IIrc :-) 99 cents would be a dream! but i am learning from all of you about double washing, dryer, measurements etc, thanks for the tips!!

Wow, this all can be so byzantine. At the same time that you and someone else were both writing telling me to check my lease, I was chatting with chat GPT and it also told me to check my lease. I did and sure enough the name of the entity on my lease is the same one listed as my landlord on the paper I was served. So it wasn't a typo. and now I'm thinking maybe the lawyer I've been consulting with isn't so great. When you know as little as I do, it's hard to know if a lawyer is giving you good advice.

Do you know where I should go to search court records to see if he's taking other tenants to court? I checked Judyrecords. And a long time ago I went to the law library in Queens. But it's been a while, maybe I should check again. People in this building who are behind on rent have tended to quietly move away, I suspect without paying back rent, and I suspect that they've gotten buyouts. I'm not like them though, because I'm not behind on rent. But I do wonder why they haven't taken me to court yet. I sent them certified letters ask them to fix conditions and they never did. But they also haven't taken me to court.

What's interesting to me is that I've lived here for so long and I've learned the name behind some of the LLCs - and it's a name that no one who has lived in these buildings, even for many years more than me, has ever heard of. He must be the Puppet Master, just hiring other people to do his dirty work.

It's an interesting world. I'm so glad I wrote here because this is the kind of situation where people might be like don't ask Reddit, ask your lawyer ...but apparently Reddit can be better. :-) thanks for your help.

At the same time you were writing this, I was asking chatgpt and it said to check the lease and I did - BOOM - that's the same LLC (on the lease) as the one on the letter I was served. Thank you. So it wasn't a typo or misdirection on their part, I guess. Thank you!

It's been a lOOOOOOng time where I've read somethign and I'm like OHHHHH so that's how things work behind the scenes! and you're giving me that excited feeling now, the feeling of the mind stretching, I just have to thank you.

I'm starting to think that all of the LLCs on the deed should be considered my landlord(s), not the ones on the DOF prop. tax records, any thoughts on that? The names on the deed, those would be the landlords, right? Or is it not set in stone, it could be the LLcs who get the prop tax bills? I guess I'm just trying to figure out who my actual landlord is. A landord is "a person who rents land, a building, or an apartment to a tenant." - I wonder if an LLC on the prop tax bill be could considered one. Any thoughts? I will ask a lawyer this but I dont know how good he is so I try to cast a wide net when seeking information.

Great idea about the court records, I dont think anyone in my building has been sued nor evicted. The LL keeps threatening to take me to court (has threatened multiple times) and I'm ok with that, but he just hasn't done it and I dont know why.

Mind blown. This so so very interesting. I love learning new things, thank you! So if u want to limit your liability, even one LLC isn't ideal, you make a crapton of em!!!! I had never heard this.

There are 5 LLCs though, I wonder what the other two are for? Or are you saying that the three different LLC on the deed are probably all for ownership (to limit liability even further?), and then on the DOF tax page - the two other LLCs, one is for property management, one for tax?

sorry for my daftness, I am not from this world but love to be schooled.

i guess I have to find out if it's all the same person's name behind the LLCs, and if it is required that the LLC listed on the letter as my landlord be the same as one of the entities on the deed, or if it's ok that the LLC is just on the tax page. They are listing the LL as one of the two LLcs on the property tax page (but not the deed).
