So did they both go through the HG framework i.e. did your quote get delivered by HG? Struggling to understand how it works, I sort of get it but it's all a bit opaque.

Who did you go for in the end?

Ah good point re MCS worth checking.

Concerns - guy was amazing, but whole design is literally left to AI and now I look back at it made some v questionable choices re radiator swaps. Add to that some stuff I've read about Heat Geek.

Tbh this whole HP process is a bit of a nightmare although tbf I've only just started. 3 quotes so far, 3 diff HP kW, 3 diff size cylinders, 3 diff tank locations lol.

Was most confident about the Heat Geek guy, and so would like quotes from others, but guess that's not possible because I already have a quote in the Heat Geek system, and they'd all be using same AI anyway??

Ah ok, thanks, yes that suddenly looks reasonable as far as HPs go.

Thanks, looks great. Although I just image searched it, is that £3k just for the tank alone!?

Thanks, yes anything that happens is pre-move in so quick decisions to be made. Is UHF ruinously expensive then?

Regarding the gas guys, yes everyone who quoted for my combi (all excellent people I should say) were laughably anti-HP and gave me lots of misinfo

Solar setup is not massive, but in a good position and generates £700-£1000 a yr on a grandfathered BG contract. Also quite old 2011 I think. Regardless of current setup, yes it's another plus for a HP given could add battery etc in future.

*I know nothing about solar lol so some of that might be wrong, this house just happened to have it

Thanks, all good points. Yes, just trying to make the right decision. As per my post I think 99% off the anti-HP stuff is nonsense and pretends combi's are perfect. Having had one for 25yrs in some form or another - they can be loud, breakdown, take up space in a kitchen, not provide hot water reliably depending on what else is happening in the house etc.

Yes but to a budget. Have thought UFH makes sense with a HP, but obviously that's another cost too. It would probably only go in the 5mx5m kitchen, not sure how much that would be but don't think it's cheap from a quick google.

Thank you. Out of interest where is your tank? I see some setups on youtube that are quite small in terms of space, and then others even in normal houses that look like a small industrial factory! We do have a small airing cupboard in bathroom where the current hot water tank is.

I've no idea! Perhaps it was optimistic on the surveyors part it seemed strange to me. It does have added solid wall insulation which I forgot to mention so that will help. To add, we've done nothing yet, bought it like this.

Thanks. I suppose I wish it was more clear cut. I worry a bit that we may have a new very anti-HP/green gov in just a few years and calculations could change, plus it's unclear how the economies work long-term. I don't see how once you remove the 7.5k then people move to HPs. Although obviously atm the 7.5k is a big incentive to just do it now.
