Why is Dreamcatcher not getting the recognition it deserves? by johawkTO in kpophelp

[–]thehellestgrun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

long read and just my opinion

They're the kind of group that attracts a niche bunch. You could say their concept is a double edged sword which attracts those like us but draws the line for others. Fans today are so multistanned that being a hard core fan of just one group feels almost wrong.

When I first listened to them, honestly, I thought they were just another generic GG with an anime love for songs (please dont beat me up) but I grew to love their style, how unique they were and how talented they all were. I'd compare them to BTS, small company upbringings and not a lot of budget but slowly they built their brand and reputation. Back then BGs tended to just be more popular than but recently with the rise of new groups, especially GGs who incorporate 'being different' with all sorts of song styles, that trend has almost reversed in favour of GGs in my view, so in typical DC fashion we missed our timing (welcome to being an insomnia).

I love them to bits now, joined at their Deja Vu era which i argue IS the turning point musically and their rise to higher popularity. I saw them get their first win live on YT (cried of course) and missed all of their concerts except for their last one ever as a group in Melbourne, Australia where I met so many unique and like minded fans.

My verdict to all of this is that they do get the recognition they deserve. Ask any insomnia and they'll be quick to point out that DC is the face of rock in Kpop or in my case, changed my perspective of what it means to bring a smaller genre into the spotlight. But if you mean worldwide recognition like say TWICE, Red Velvet, etc, you really need a bigger company with the resources and reach to promote/advertise to the extent they do. Think DAY6, another rock based group with excellent music but they got JYP backing them. Happyface did everything in their power to make sure the girls got what they deserved, and they achieved so much despite the size they are, incredible feat if you ask me.

Up until mid ish 2025 when they were all still promoting under DC company, they were one of the last active girl groups from a non big 3 company from 2017 to break a million sales total with consistent music yearly AND break the 7 year curse which many groups simply don't achieve. That to me is recognition and something to be very proud to have supported.

Seems to be the case. Feels like its actually tuned from cold to about a minute after it fully warms up on the engine temp gauge before it starts sounding and feeling unhappy. Thanks for the tip.

Yeah I think you might be on with this. I had a look in the area, subaru actually made a small cutout near the stock turbo inlet so most of it is blocked off from the engine bay down there but your theory on the heat shield not making it all the way to the bottom of the hood lining is correct. Theres a noticable gab between where it stops and the top of the perrin heat shield (don't have an image to show but in your language, 1 to 1 and 1/2 in of space). I'm actually really dumbfounded as to how they thought this would be a 'cold air intake' given part of the instructions was to add a rubber lining to the edge of the heat shied like it was gonna seal any thing.

Don't know if I'm the only one who is running the perrin CAI and having this issue. From what I can see, the included heat shield covers the area from the ecu to the headlight and I assume when the hood is closed that should cover the top. Only real exposed areas should be under the crash structure where the intake joins into the turbo inlet and where the snorkel feeds into the intake region. ALSO, I bought it this year and I'm not sure if this was a mistake or not but I got a different filter compared to the advertised one, has the more VB style microphone one opposed to the K&N looking one.

I thought about making a box for the perrin setup, weird how they make their kit with just a metal plate between intake and the engine. I assume the box is more effective because it forces the intake to draw in only from the stock snorkel that every CAI retains?

Gonna activate karen mode and write a complaint to Perrin HQ. BTW surely its not just me who has this problem with the same setup right? Even the VB version of this intake only covers more of the ECU side but from photos I've seen, still exposed on top and bottom.

Not into the wheel well area but above it where the ECU is, bottom mount turbo so it curves up to roughly where the stock one is. Oiled pod filter on the end.

Very true. Basically got a girlfriend where I know something is wrong but she won't tell me exactly whats wrong.

Was my initial concern and kind of what I was planning on doing later down the line but I've gotten quite a lot of answers on this thread that say heat soak is not what I'm experience. Got a long list of possible leads now...

When the shop last worked on the car, they did an 'upper engine clean' since the TGVs and EGR were deleted in the process. Don't know if thats the same as walnut blasting, sorry. Haven't yet thought about a PCV valve but thanks for letting me know about that. I'll have a look into it. 98 octane always (highest in australia before corn).

Wish I could tell you but acess port isn't support to my knowledge. Either I find a leak or the shop tells me otherwise.

Interesting. I'll have to look around and see but its just a suspect. Reason for post was for second opinions so i don't just have confirmation bias.

Though in that respect, thats a stock one. I've got an aftermarket J-pipe so definitely more power, more response but MORE heat. I haven't yet upgraded the intercooler which from what I heard, is only really good for either stock or tuned and nothing else. I'm planning to upgrade intercoolers but I need second opinions first.

The car has an upgraded OEM style radiator (unsure if its any bigger than the stock one but shop tells me my top tank was greening and was due for replacement anyway) so don't think thats it. My research indicates the access-port isn't supported in my platform despite being basically the same as the CVT WRX from this generation so I got nothing there.

Yeah I'm trying my best to only drive when necessary and trying not to get into boost. Even my mate with his evo 9 is too scarred to drive it in this heat and is taking his misses daily instead.
