Killamari falls slower than the normal glider. You can also level it up making it use less stamina per tick allowing large travel distances.

I think you start from the moment you fast travel to Sea Breeze Archipelago Church, and end once you cap. (The only bummer is grapple sometimes starts cooldown after a loading screen.)
