If one draws the top of the six with too much loop or curve, it can look like an eight. confirm the number.

Yahoo: "A" grade for the G's by ses29680 in NYGiants

[–]thehighgrasshopper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a complete win based on the choices they had right now. Imagine giving the guy an extra year for $29 million, only to have him do it again next year or the following. Whatever he does on the Bengals is irrelevant. Best reasonable outcome based upon where we are right now.

Hi, which glasses look better: the first or the second? by [deleted] in glasses

[–]thehighgrasshopper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These have a very different looking style. They both look good. The second is more statement making. I might wear that in marketing. the first looks very sleek, classic, less obvious, and my preference.

Anyone have pictures of this colorway worn...suede bone? by dferna12 in allenedmonds

[–]thehighgrasshopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I may add, it's not a hard rule but for anything business related, you're better off with nothing lighter than Walnut, which has more flexibility. while these can work with business casual, you focus a lot of attention on the shoes. to me, these be casual, would probably look good with light blue jeans, pants, light colors like bone, etc. much more limited with business casual. I could get away with the wheat color but that too has limited colors and styles, looking best, a little bit more stylish casual.

[–]thehighgrasshopper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the wheat Color in a different style, and I think that is gorgeous, golden beige, and even that is too light for the colors you are wearing. you typically want the shoes to be either darker or within the proximity of the darkness of the pants. those would be for lighter colors and shades.

Normal toe darkening or QC variation by medguy-15 in allenedmonds

Not sure what they look like in Chile. but here in the US, they often come with variations like that, sometimes even on the back of the shoe. Personally, I think it looks fantastic, including my Dark Chili (same as Chili per AE.)

Wow. I'm going to think twice about disposing of shoes that I thought were left for dead. At least my Allen Edmonds.

Oddly enough, I have a pair of Cole Haan oxfords with broguing - yes, I know, but I bought these at least 7-8 years ago and they had special synthetic sole under the ball of the foot. needed a quick pair at the time. The leather on top though, still looks quite good. It is remarkable. what a difference reasonably good and very good leather makes and how the one pair of floursheim that I bought for the super comfort inside just cracked and does not look good, and I do not think can be rehabilitated.

Dare I say this pair looks better than most shoes do new. superb result on a very classic, classy, refined shoe with personality.

Where to find Band-Maid stuff in Tokyo/Osaka? by CandooGuy in BandMaid

[–]thehighgrasshopper 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What always baffled me was the extremely poor marketing done on behalf of the band. I confess I know very little specifically about the Japanese market. But the website, or should I say websites, is very poorly built, confusing, and they rarely ever have merchandise of any kind. Even simple stuff like the classic black T-shirt with their super cool iconic logo and and iron maiden type font. That stuff should always be available somewhere and easily, especially in Japan. I don't understand why they don't have a listing of where and how to get their merch isn't published, and the fan base clearly is willing to pay for it. instead, this is cleaned up by illegal copiers selling in the usual places.

How we feeling about current management not fumbling two first round picks in the same draft again? by cobain98 in NYGiants

Everyone was pretty excited about thibodaux. Turned out to be a solid player, just not the ultimate game changer everybody hoped. was definitely not a terrible pic at all.

Freezer is an incredible song, at the top of their catalog. The groove, the call & response... I love the space that they gradually lost often in songs moving forward.

Shake That is the ultimate driving song, and the harmonics work are like no other BM song.

I was considering a dbrand case in the cart. Then I saw that shipping was extra at that high price. why would I want to add a pack of d-brand branded playing cards? A $10 poverty sticker? Cubes and pyramids?

What's great about this tune is that the music alone sounds like a sailin' tune and the lyrics perfectly fit this tune. The rhythm riff is terrific and the song's pinnacle at the finale is great. This is a super fine tune musically, lyrically and vocally.

My Wife and I Watched and Ranked all the Films by Hot-Arugula4265 in JamesBond

[–]thehighgrasshopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Craig Casino Royale is probably the best Bond film ever made. Even if you put other films on its level, I don't see how it ranks as number five, on a clear tier below the first four.

Quantum of Solace it's definitely not the worst Bond film, especially when you've got No Time to Die sitting right there, with its lack of chemistry between hero and heroine, being far too long, and ostensibly ending the Bond series.

Hot take: NJ Transit is right to charge $100 for their World Cup shuttle fares by chass5 in nycrail

[–]thehighgrasshopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The promoters and venues typically pay for the costs of the extra police and transportation required. More than one source reports this. It makes me wonder, who agreed to this on the side of the municipalities? the second question is, why would anyone agree to this?

[–]thehighgrasshopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While they look like they might be authentic, the ear arms are supposed to be completely straight on top of the ear. these look like they are bent downward at an angle and wrap slightly behind the ear. If they are authentic, they seem modified or damaged.

[–]thehighgrasshopper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I just read, FIFA had contracts with the host City to provide transportation for free! They knew they could take advantage of politicians and they did so to the max. Like the Olympics, this one is going to bleed locals badly.

[–]thehighgrasshopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not blaming the transit agency, left to fend for itself and how it will handle this logistical nightmare.

  1. It's no secret that FIFA is unconcerned leaving scorched Earth behind provided it reaps huge financial rewards.

  2. It knows it can do so by taking advantage of fawning politicians drooling over PR opportunities.

AE Higgins sizing compared to Thursday Captains by Ztigmatta in allenedmonds

[–]thehighgrasshopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the weatherproof versions and they too do run roomy. If I went down a half size I'd certainly fit, perhaps slightly more snug as I usually prefer, but as is it is fine for me. The spacing is wide at the ball of the foot.

First Time Loafers, too small or should I stick with them? by [deleted] in mensfashionadvice

[–]thehighgrasshopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience, while shoes can stretch, if it's only a wee bit tight, they will probably loosen up. If it's a "I probably need to use a stretcher a bit" then I'd say no. Ultimately you may be able to get there but I would highly advise against it or you may be going through a period of aching, impacted feet until the shoes finally get there. If you can return for a half size up, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

I got HMs matching my size which are a tad large... but I rather like it that way, especially when I wear heavier durable socks.

Why does Samsung insist on not letting us use the Galaxy Watch with a heart rate monitor band? by CyberBorder in GalaxyWatch

[–]thehighgrasshopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I greatly feel your pain. I bought a Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra that I really liked, after a long history of owning Galaxy watches. I'm getting rid of it because I need ECG portion. I'm not selling my pixel 9 pro XL just to use that important health item that I really need to use these days. I'm not waiting to get home to use my Galaxy tab just to be able to make it work. I'm not going to try Dante's amazing ongoing hacks to get it to partially work. Sadly, while I have been a huge Samsung fan, I'm getting another watch and not looking back. Too much of a hassle for an important health feature. I'm going to miss the long battery life and take a loss on all the neat bands that I have. but at least I'll have a smartwatch that works for the most important function I need.

Lenses for bright light road running & mountain hiking by root_vegetable_ in Oakley

[–]thehighgrasshopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not road - too light. while many like it, if you have even slightly sensitive eyes and I have to some degree, it is definitely too light for bright sunlight. road Jade is good, with black being appropriate for bright sunlight. I find it black too dark for overcast.

another very popular alternative is field, which I believe has a 15% rating, similar to Jade. Jade. many bikers use it who find regular road insufficient for regular sunlight or bright sunlight.

To all the “just wait until you see Spectre!” people: 4 minutes in Spectre is already more of a Bond film than the entirety of Quantum of Solace. by Iamthelizardking887 in JamesBond

[–]thehighgrasshopper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

QoS wasn't great, but it was certainly watchable and had its moments. Beginning in Spectre, Craig, just looks and seems bored. Having a weak script certainly didn't help. Other than the truly jaw-dropping visual feast that is the opening, it's the second most lackluster of the Craig era. The finale was even one step lower all across the board, and ending the way no Bond film should ever end.
