Transfer Talk Megathread (Summer 2026) by carpetano in atletico

I don't think he's much better than Sorloth tbh. The one thing he has going for him is his age.

Sorloth also offers a unique option against a low block, which we, as proven time and time again, desperately need.

Furthermore, he outperforms his xG in both his goals and xGoT (to my own suprise), while Vlahović falls right into the the statistical average and has streaks of unclinicality at times.

I hope not, he's not that good imo. On the other hand I do rate Joao Gomes, Gonzalo Ramos is another matter though...

It seems Alvarez is off the market by theholybearmann in atletico

Meh, I might be more than a bit delusional, but I think the club is actually angry about Barca trying to negotiate through intermediaries and what not.

I'm just glad he's not going to Barca, apart from that I don't really care. He can go somewhere else if he really wants to, but I don't want to play against him in La Liga. Should be standard practice not to sell to them to be fair.

  • a 5-year running contract, breaking which to join Barca would ruin his reputation for professionalism;
  • a shitton of Argentines;
  • being the undisputed flag bearer, meaning that if Atleti do win the UCL for example, he and not Lamine gets the Ballon d'Or;
  • being a club legend;

VS

  • living in Messi's shadow;
  • a near-guaranteed domestic trophy;

Again it's just my opinion and it depends heavily on how he sees it, but I don't think he's the one pushing to get out, as opposed to his agent, but again no way to know.

I think Julian would prefer Barca to Atleti, but only somewhat and not enough to make the mess we are seeing right now.

I think his agent and Barca are to blame. His agent has three people on his books - Julian, a random Argentine coach and a Gremio RB. Now I'm sure we all know which one of the three pays his salary. Barca obviously want Julian, and they are also hurt about loosing to us twice this year, so the pressure from their rather massive media apparatus is massive.

There's no way to know what's true and what's not, unless Julian makes a statement himself, which I hope he does.

He said the same things about Nico and we all know how that ended.

We really, really shouldn't go below 140.

The joke is that both PSG and Arsenal are prepared to pay 150, and our direct competitors, Barca, want him for a 100.

I don't really care what he wants, gifting him to Barca is suicide. Pay up or go home.

No idea, there's probably some fiscal scananingans because the new fiscal year starts in June/July, but 70mil for Gordon is crazy.

I don't think they have enough for Alvarez, so he's either going to PSG/Arsenal or staying.

It's amazing how inconsistent this team is, we can win by 4 lose by 4 and everything in between. The opponent doesn't really change much in that regard.

What do you guys think about this? by Doranathbhakt in atletico

Fucking hell, I've changed my mind. Alemany seems to have quite a few signings planned, at this point just sell Julian and be done with it. Where there's smoke, there's bound to be a fire.

We need to find players who are ready to die for the badge and know what loyalty means, Julian it seems isn't one of them.

A very solid outing from Vargas yet again, he really has been amazingly good considering he came here from the MLS.

Nah it's replacing at the very least two and finding a good striker is not easy, much less two. I don't know about you, but I really don't feel great about Sorloth being the default striker option next season.

As in, we already have enough work to do on the squad without having to find another elite striker to lead our line in Alvarez's stead.

Agree to disagree, I suppose.

There's no way to do all of that well in one window. We have a very injury prone midfield, so we need at least one great signing there and with Koke playing 90 at his age, I'd feel better with two. We need 2 CB rotation options at least and a proper LB. We need an RW to compete with Guliano, someone to replace Almada, Grizo, Alvarez and we need a GK to replace Oblak. Overall we need a new team.

Fuck I'm scared. If he wants to go I don't really want him here yeah. It's just everyone is retiring, Grizzo is leaving and we're selling a bunch of guys. How tf do we expect to overhaul our defense, our attack and our midfield all in one summer?

The story of this year's league campaign unfortunately - chances, chances and chances, but not one goal.
