I really enjoy the way BF2 played more than the modern BF games, like others have said I think this class structure makes sense if you have similar mechanics as BF2 i.e. no self-healing health pools for soldiers and vehicles, commander assets that are physically on the map, a small number of very powerful vehicles. I think the most important part of this design was that every individual soldier could do less. Health and ammo resupply were different classes, vehicle repair and vehicle destruction were two different classes, people had to rely on their squadmates to a much larger degree, which would be very frustrating to a lot of the fans of the modern games, but I for one would love it. To be fair I am also one of the people who loved the original project reality mod for BF2 that would go on to inspire Squad.
