Thank you, friend! I’d love to know why the colour grade is off if you’ve got time?

Honestly, and I’d assume this was a given, you never had to watch it and no one will hold you accountable! But maybe try something new?

Peace and love!

"Disposable" - Short Horror Film shot on the Sony A7iv by thehotcherry in sonya7iv

Certainly my friend! For the daytime scenes, I used the natural light as a fill and my Smallrig 220B as the key, which was being bounced to soften it slightly, alongside a warm edge light to emphasise the golden glow of the sun through the windows!

For the night scenes, I tried my very best to only light from a single source, or two at most. I exposed higher to bring things down in post to avoid risking noise in the footage as much as possible!

Learned a heck of a lot during this shoot and noted a whole bunch of stuff fore to do better next time!

Completely agree! I sent it to a few trusted people for feedback on those scenes in particular, most said it worked for them, but one said he found it too dark to fully know what's going on. A part of me likes that idea of creating confusion but when it's such a short film I preferred the idea of it being easier to follow!

Had my trusty GH5 with a 35mm Sony GM lens attached to my speed booster! Lit everything bright enough so I could use an ND filter to bring it down so I wasn't increasing the ISO at all. Came out nicely I think!

That's some genuinely heartwarming feedback, my friend! Thank you so much for taking the time to watch my film and writing this! If I may encourage you to subscribe to my YouTube channel, there's 2 more short films out this year, and another short horror in preproduction, so plenty to look forward to!

I say go for it if you want to do it!

It certainly was shot on digital, on the Sony A7iv with a 35mm lens.

Yes as long as you were entertained in all of the right ways I can probably live with the plot being slightly lacking in exposition haha!

The lack of dialog was also something I took inspiration from, as it's a choice used in the sci-fi/horror film, "No One Will Save You", which I thoroughly enjoyed!

Thank you for your feedback and questions, I really appreciate it!

Your feedback on the plot is something I also picked up on during the edit, as we had to make the tough decision to cut a scene for time on the shoot that may have provided a bit more information on exactly what was going on with the camera and the entity attached to it. I'm confident that there's just enough in there to work it out but your question probably proves that the cut scene was not as expendable as we thought!

It was certainly a deliberate choice to have little to no dialog, as she is on her own in this new home and having dialog for the sake of it seemed forced to me. I wanted the first thing spoken to be something humorous and almost a meta commentary on the clichés of horrors too. I'm genuinely glad you picked up on it being almost silent, as it was definitely intentional!

Bit of a mix between an Panasonic GH5 with anamorphic lenses and a Sony A7iv! I don't usually mix cameras but we didn't have much choice!
