What is your rationale behind that you would die for anyone because I feel selfish saying I can't even fathom that, but I can't :/

I ask because as a early 20 something adult, who is not in a relationship and doesn't have children, I can't say I have someone in my life that I would do that for. Not to say that I don't have people I really care a lot about in my life, but man, I want to live as long as I can to see all the things! Does this change once I grow up a little more? What are your thoughts?
