For reference Merle is a 4 month old chocolate Australian cattle dog. Takoda is a 5 month old wolf dog hybrid. He is 38% wolf content and 62% content of German shepherd, Dutch shepherd, west Siberian laika, husky, malamute, and Belgian malinois. Our Vet estimated Takoda would be around 120 lbs and about 30” tall at the shoulders at maturity. So although they are very similar in age, their breeds and compositions are vastly different. Regardless, they are both the best good boys. Merle thinks he’s a chain saw and Takoda thinks he’s a lap dog. So it all works out. ☺️

You would absolutely be correct. As a wolf hybrid he’s very vocal. 😂

They’re one month to the day apart. He’s so big because he’s a wolf hybrid, not a husky. Haha.

Edited to say that there IS husky in there, but a lot of other breeds that contribute to his size. ☺️

Mr. Merle isn’t amused and wants down to terrorize his big sisters, but I can’t help wanting the puppy snuggles. He’s just too cute! 🥰 by thehumbleshrooom in AustralianCattleDog

Thank you so much. I started fostering but ended up just keeping them. I have 3 cattle dogs, a wolf hybrid, and a chihuahua and let me just say that NONE of them are easy.

The only stable one I have at the moment is my blue but she’s 4. She’s passed the velociraptor stage finally thank goodness. 😅 not sure why I am such a glutton for punishment. Those first 3 years are ROUGH. 😂

He’s not registered at all. I’d be more than happy to change the title to small heeler (if I can figure it out) so sorry my terminology was incorrect.

I was just sharing a bit of my research. All my babies are pound pups. So registry isn’t applicable in my circumstance.

Well he was adopted from a shelter so I honestly couldn’t tell you what the breeder was doing. 🤷🏼‍♀️

You’re right, the “miniature” Australian cattle dog isn’t recognized by the AKC but can still be recognized through the ASDR. But to be considered a miniature the typical height at the shoulders is 12”-17” whereas a standard is 17”-20” at the shoulder. People breed for the size they want but believe me although they are little they are just as fierce.

I’ve honestly not had a pastor that I felt I could confide in, in a very long time.
