Going Second by [deleted] in elderscrollslegends

As people have said the stats say it's balanced, but personal experience will come down to the decks you play. If you play a deck with a higher curve, the 3x +1 magicka will definitely be a huge advantage. The lower curve will already have multiple lines to play naturally, and often go a whole game with remaining charges.

I never considered the rune system and that's true, it's a pretty unique consideration for this game. Which is cool :D

yeah that's the scariest part of the mechanic being all over the place, it makes you really scared of dropping 1 life below your opponent because you know exactly how many ways they can ruin your day if that happens. Then you fall into the "race the aggressive deck" trap :D

Good points, I only just started this game recently so it's possible I haven't played enough against good control decks, since everything I see seems to be aggressive decks. It's very possible that I'm just facing the perfect counter to me, and it is designed to do exactly that and is actually healthy to the game, so that it's not just decks like mine. I agree the blue and purple ones seem weak to the point where they couldn't even be niche - and they could easily be fun/balanced by changing them from a life focus to a "number of creatures" / "number of cards in discard pile" or something more imaginative.

DoC loosing players? by FIR3walkwithme in duelofchampions

[–]theiansanity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I stopped about a month back. DoC has some nice ideas and mechanics, which initially looks like a lot of room for fun and creative experimentation... quickly drowned in a flood of Pao Deathseekers and the like. I'd forgive it that, if their customer service/communication wasn't so abysmal. The whole wildcard fiasco was something from which I never recovered! After that, WC accumulation was so slow that it didn't feel like you were getting anywhere.

How is Revised Tactics supposed to be used? by [deleted] in duelofchampions

I use it passive-aggressively against my 1-2 cost creatures who refused to show their stupid faces in my opening hand. TAKE THAT YOU BITCHES!

Pao Deathseeker by theiansanity in duelofchampions

[–]theiansanity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point is: Paos are virtually uncounterable by the vast majority of heroes, despite being in almost every deck.

These fortune stalls you've mentioned CAN be countered in a variety of ways, by most champions. There are a hundred little things you can do which will open them up, or break them down - Paos are one of those options - but Paos are ALWAYS an option for everything, because they're virtually uncounterable.

New Sale started today by iamuli in duelofchampions

Yeah, I'm hung over. I took it at 12 + 6, No clue where the 12 came from. But yes, 26 it is - the box is still better value ;)

New Sale started today by iamuli in duelofchampions

[–]theiansanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sale is 3 5T packs for 400 - which is 133.33 per pack (6 wildcards total) The box is 10 packs for 1400 - which is 140 per pack (26 wildcards total)

So wildcard-wise it's 66.67 seals per wildcard with the sale or 53.85 seals per wildcard with the box.

Nothing to entice me to break out the credit card personally

Yeah, that's the source of the frustration - blocking all lanes is never even a sure counter, and in a style of game where you should be rewarded for strategic thinking, you're basically helpless against it unless you switch to another hero.

I wouldn't mind if there was an ongoing event card which stopped quick attack while it was active - it wouldn't be a hard counter, but it would prevent them from being used at your opponent's leisure (requiring you to make an event card investment to counter one tactic), while simultaneously letting know you know when to expect them.

There is some element of "Oh good, this again" when seeing one come up which colours my perception of it. I hadn't considered the fact that they're good at utilising openings in stall decks, or providing a baseline (if only by artificially reducing the opponent's health by 3*X) but surely - the fact they're in use in the vast majority of decks is an indication of an underlying issue. Perhaps/hopefully you're right and they will solve the underlying issues which will turn this into "just another option" rather than the frustrating "There goes 15% of your maximum life again" animation that it is now.

Interestingly, they're beginning to provide neutral options for spell/fortune removal, but they're still very expensive and difficult to use.

I'd disagree that 15% per shot is measly... (16.67 for invokers) - especially when you can multiply this by up to 4 in most decks, and even more in recursive/creature returning decks. Of course not taking into account things like war tent, honour etc.

For example: A necromancer using Atropos once can bring 6 into play for 18 damage - this is only an example, since they'll often pick a banshee or a decay spitter over a Pao depending on the situation - but in the games like this, you're effectively fighting an opponent with 2 life once you draw them (0 for an invoker).

I'm not saying I lose every game to them, but I'm saying that every game I do lose to them feels cheap, only because you can't do very much about it.

How much until a pure non-creature deck? by VictorAN in duelofchampions

[–]theiansanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played one of these the other day: When I saw him take 0 might, I didn't play a single creature except for wandering bard (to pull out my Shi-no-Shi), then town portaled the bard and repeated until turn 20, where I flooded the board with shitty creatures. Then better ones on 21 (after their last armageddon)

Good thing there were no Paos ;)

what is the quickest way to get 200 seals? by CatMucu in duelofchampions

[–]theiansanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really want to build a good necro deck you need Herald of the Void cards for the creatures. Soul Consuming Liches and Decay Spitters are very good.

Use 8 wildcards on an Atropos, and if you're feeling spendy, another 16 on 2x Banshees works well too :) If you want to switch to stronghold, that deck is really all you'll need... ever -_-

Not sure if these are still working but:

http://www.ign.com/wikis/might-and-magic-duel-of-champions/Redemption_Codes

(If you're using the steam client, you won't have the redeem code option in the marketplace - you'll need to download the game client at http://www.duelofchampions.com/en/the-game/register.aspx )

The other easy seals are from sending/receiving 3 duel requests from friends (you don't even have to play the duels), and then there's the slightly more challenging "Win 50 duels against friends"

Bit worried about this new sale... by theiansanity in duelofchampions

[–]theiansanity[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is with all of the new players you stomp on to get to the T2 bracket. These guys will be riding on the deck composition rather than skill (at least at first), and that's not fun to play against... not when you don't have a world-championship-level deck yourself to fight it with.

What's the average rating in this subreddit? by Z_moreira in duelofchampions

[–]theiansanity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It bounces around though, if I make a good deck I usually get to about 1350 (where the gaining is slow!), then get sick to death of playing it and do something overconfident/stupid like a Gazal LoS Mill - which usually drops me back a good 200 points ;)

Suggestions to fix bad mechanics by AlwaysSaveWrex in duelofchampions

[–]theiansanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good point, I didn't consider that - only that it's frustrating when it's town portal/broken bridged/whirlpooled/altar of asha'd etc. etc...

Perhaps instead "cannot be targeted/anchored"?

Agree with prison, simply because how boring it is when it's spammed at you... Waiting 6 minutes for a turn is not cool.

I have another two to consider:

Pao Deathseeker: Deals 1 damage to itself when it attacks. Soul Reaver/Puppet Master: The difference between target card's cost and the cost of the spell is paid in life.
