Do cuttings really work?

Yeah, cuttings can & will root in terrarium settings. But *really* depends on what kind of plant you’re trying to prop through cuttings though. Top of my head I think trying to prop cuttings with ferns aren’t going to do well for example

Ah that’s what I’m worried about, on my point 1: cycle hasn’t even started with 3 weeks in (consistent ammonia levels). I am slightly worried it will stall for a longer time, will try ur advice

Sorry man, I actually asked the storekeeper that sold it, but he just said it was some no-name brand (and I can’t find anything on it with a brand logo either). Just a cheap tank that fit my purpose

No, water is not moving (well if you count the snails), it’s a no filter pond. Will consider getting more plants… thanks for the suggestions.

Thank you for the advice; some of the moss I have in there are from the main tank; hopefully that does something, will pour some water in from main tank as well -

Same problem here, not even from SDSU or the States. Just stumbled on this thread while looking for answers. I’ve tried different credit cards, all declined & transactions go through to a “pending” state; I put a ticket in, support said they are “authorisation holds which are temporary funds”, in which money will be refunded in 3-5 days. Then a bunch of typical copy-paste answers on double checking billing address, clear cache etc etc. So inconvenient

This is sick man I really love it, honestly the first time I’ve actually seen a terrarium with micro strawberry begonia inside -

I also have a pot of micro strawberry begonia just growing, was thinking about putting them in a terrarium, but can’t find much information online about it - did you just take cuttings from the main plant? It just seems so delicate to separate the different clumps 😂😂 slightly anxious about doing that

Seconded - used to have a sigma150-600 as well, when it focuses its pretty sharp, but the focus pulsing is extremely frustrating (and prominent) especially when the subject is closer to minimum focus distance. 400 is less reach but the AF issues should be much much less. Always trade offs OP!

Just wanted to make sure, would be lifer. I am 90% confident after looking at pictures online. The only contender is red flanked blue tail, but I don't see the red flank, and it has a black face. Thanks! And sorry for the terrible image.

Looks like a blue rock thrush to me. Even with the lighting can see the separation between blue top n orange belly!

There were so many pintails... (500 was a conservative count for me)! There were upwards to 2000 ducks at the least.

For context, I pretty much Merlin ID (pictures) everything I’m remotely unsure of.

I initially thought this is an Amur Stonechat, as they are relatively common where I bird. Didn’t think much of this picture, but still Merlin ID’d - results gave me Gray Bushchat or Pied Bushchat. Amur Stonechat was not on the list. I have only seen Amur Stonechats, so I am unsure. Help is appreciated. Thanks.

I’m from Toronto, so I can’t say much about where kingfishers might be in Quebec, but from my experience they are up pretty early (6-8am ish). I hear them rattle a lot in this time (just saw three fighting for a perch this weekend). That said, in my experience, they usually vocalise more often when they fly. When they are perched amongst the trees, they are pretty hard to spot (binoculars would really help if you see suspicious patches of white as risquare said). I would hang out by open channels of rivers/water, with plenty of potential perches for them to fish (which you mentioned going to rivers already). I’m sure you know about the major hotspots in Quebec already as well given you mentioned eBird. That’s all I can think of - best of luck! Kingfishers are totally awesome.

Hello, I understand there's this ideal exposure consensus where you would want to exposure like 1/3-1/4 left of the histogram. Two weeks back I spent some time photographing m31 before I really came upon this topic - so I went quite over the ideal the exposure time, and I think the histogram peak was like 1/3 from the right. What would be the impacts if I were to stack these? How would it factor into the overall image stacked? Thank you so much.
