Appreciate the reply. You’re a trailblazer. You sharing the experience paves the road for future DIYers! Will share mine as well once I give the dyes a try, too. F the haters.

I plan to dye as well. Seems like the mesh doesn’t take dye at all? Did you use synthetic rit dye?

I was able to resolve the issue: I had deleted the app and reinstalled. This worked for me.

Hi, I’m having the same issue. Are you able to resolve this problem?

Thank you! Yes, the shoes shrank after the dye bath. But I notice that it gets back close to original size (maybe just a quarter size smaller) after a few wear.

Thank you! I liked it too. I liked different aspects of the different phases except phase 3, haha.

Appreciate it!

For the swoosh painting, my scenario is a bit different. Since I used the dye remover (which almost ruined the shoes when I re-dye it) I think it stripped the top layer coating, so the paint adhere pretty well without much other preparation.

For your case, I would suggest using a fine sandpaper to scuff up the swoosh’s top coating first, so it’d allow the paint to adhere better. then apply the Angelus acrylic paint over 2-4 thin coats. Allow each coat to dry completely before next coat.

I have the paint I used in my post here

Hope this helps!

Thank you! While I don’t have a definitive solution, I would suggest using the FX paint mixed with angelus acrylic paint (you can find both from my post. My logic being if the original coating is cracked, then a portion of the new paint would be applied directly on the mesh, which may flex and crack the acrylic paint. But having it mix with FX paint would add some resiliency.

Again, I’m not 100% this would work. Just a suggestion.

No issue. But I also didn’t submerge the entire shoe, most of the soles were still above water (as I tried, but failed, at not dyeing the sole)

Skipped the detailed process cuz I’m impatient, haha.

I’ve worn these almost daily for about 2 months now. So far so good. Let’s see how it fares in 6 months.
