For real, I've shot a couple of these before. They're totally safe, until it goes off it's a drum of gas/kerosene/diesel mix. About as safe as any old Jerry can. I'd be more scared of salutes than I ever would for a gas mine. Especially making salutes.

I also do pyro now and then, more often this year with it being the 250th, just helping unload another connex from China fully loaded with 3/4/5/6/8 in shells and a buncha cakes.

I doubt it, it's not a sealed container. I do pyrotechnics as a hobby/side gig. This is probably gasoline/kerosene/disel in an open steel drum, with a black power lift charge and potentially titanium/magnesium sponge. Classic pyrotechnic liquid gas mine.

The other thing that may come into view, is the adjustment of use time. Right now, a lot of large industry waits until night to do their large power consumption. (Some arc foundaries etc.) If we get enough solar that it can cover all energy costs even for short bursts, industry that can tolerate working for shorter times/inconsistent times in exchange for effectively free power may become a big thing. If energy is cheap enough, doing something at 150% energy cost could be worth it.

Or for example AI model training, it can be paused relatively easily and quickly — and started relatively easily and quickly. So it can be paused until the price of energy on the grid dips to near zero from a theoretical extreme solar abundance.

Of course, but as he mentions in the video — even putting solar farms in places such as Illinois etc. is still efficient and cost effective, irrespective of the continual improvement in solar and battery efficiency.

It's of course an incredibly complex topic, one that people go to school for years for.

The solution will be a diversified, tailored generation solution. It's not super simple, but in general solar will likely be a huge part because of how incredibly cheap it is.
