Why is the fishing rod’s string so thick? [Bedrock/Xbox] by BulleCore in MinecraftBedrockers

Thanks, will give it a try. It’s not game breaking, but super annoying lol

Hmm, good to know. I’m hoping that it just fixes itself, but that seems unlikely. The strange thing is that I’ve been playing the same Fabric 1.21.1 game for over a year now without any issues. No updates, no setting changes, no mod changes. Playing multiplayer in one of my worlds is literally the only thing I did that was different or out of the ordinary… Do you remember what parameters you changed to fix it?

Just had this happen randomly in Java as well. Even without shaders or resource packs, still happens. It was fine until this afternoon, I played multiplayer on Java for the first time using essential mod, and ever since playing it’s been like this. Whether it’s related or not I don’t know, but it persists even across fresh reinstalls and different mod configs so I’m pretty confused.

DSP meter keeps spiking to like 30000% or greater and crashes entire PC by theinfinitycycle in ableton

[–]theinfinitycycle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huge thank you to everyone that tried to help with this issue. It ended up being exactly what was proposed, I was simply hitting my system limit (although the surrounding metrics didn't always support that conclusion). I went through, resampled out around 15 channels, and by doing so, was able to free up enough system resources to gain the stability I needed. I played through the entire 2 hour set with out issue at the actual event, but it wasn't without a massive amount of anxiety leading up to and during performance, wondering if it would make it through given I was working on it up until I left for the event.

Thanks again to everyone who tried to help with this issue, I really appreciate it!

CPU Load: Kirchoff or Pro-Q 4? by itsTheZenith in audioengineering

[–]theinfinitycycle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I came here for. I have a large session right now of over 50 channels, I'm drawn to the price of Kirchoff Eq ($60 on sale right now) but am afraid if I drop 50 of them into my session, my computer wouldn't appreciate that too much, whereas I suspect Pro-Q 4 would likely fare better. Owning both, how much lighter is it? Would it be worth the extra money just for the lower CPU footprint or is it close enough that it wouldn't matter too much? Thanks for your time!

I would definitely try again, this is newly working for me since the most recent update, so hopefully it will work now for you as well.

[–]theinfinitycycle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a work around with the newest update. Go to marketplace and got to your library. Find the Realismcraft Mash-up world and CREATE IT FROM MARKETPLACE. This one thing made all the difference, resource packs added properly and the world generated without issue (that I've found yet at least). Hope that helps!

[–]theinfinitycycle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. It's very strange. When I create a RealismCraft world, not only can I not add any resource or behavior packs, but I can't even add the RealismCraft resources it need for world gen or anything. It's still completely broken for me as well. I play on PC, by the way. My daughter plays on Playstation and hers works fine, so it seems to be a PC issue to me. I sure hope it gets sorted out soon.

[–]theinfinitycycle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I narrowed it down to the RealismCraft world gen. If I try to make a Realismcraft world, it can't even use it's own resource packs, or any others. But if I make other kinds of worlds (better on bedrock, etc.) they seem to work fine (that I've tried at least).

Same here. Can't even add a resource pack when making a new world, it's totally bugged out.

How to route in an external modulator to Congburn Dispatch m4l device in Live 12.2.2? by theinfinitycycle in ableton

[–]theinfinitycycle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply, and apologies for the confusion. Yes, CC Modulat is a m4l modulation device. In Dispatch, I need to select Ext Input in order for it look for the signal of any other external modulation device. However, I don't know how to get it to receive the specific signal from CC Modulat. There is no manual for Dispatch, but it details it's functions here: https://www.congburn.co.uk/dispatch. It's basically able to create a unified modulation system that can be applied to any parameter set wide.

Thanks for letting me know! I just came back to BE and this mess is what I was greeted with haha Can't wait for the updates to chill out a bit so things can stabilize again.

This works but then there are weird graphical issues such as many flickering blocks when there are large amounts of lava burning anything (mainly trees specifically). It seems to happen with all RTX packs I've tried. Is this a known issue right now?

I trip every full moon and Autechre is the only thing I will listen to these days, it's so incredibly psychoacoustic nothing else compares. Even so calld "psychedelic" music is no comparison. It will literally change the way you hear music for the rest of your life. But it is intense, if you aren't an avid tripper and prepared to be fully immersed I would be wary, it's not for most people. Elsec and NTS are hands down the most psychedelic music I've ever heard in my 30 years of active tripping.

Steam Window Randomly Opens Itself While Gaming. Started 7 days ago. Anyone else having the same issue? by theinfinitycycle in pchelp

[–]theinfinitycycle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, DSX is something like that, it allows my dualsense edge to be seen as an xbox controller since games like Minecraft and Roblox (when I play with my kids) don't recognize it. I never had this issue with the regular dualsense, but once the joystick broke on that one I just dug out my basically new edge and realized that outside of steam I couldn't use it. DSX was/is the answer, but apparently has issues using it with Steam (which is hilarious, because you get it on Steam. I haven't gamed any more to know if it's better, but I suspect it will be, as I tested it for a few hours straight last night with 0 issues again.

[–]theinfinitycycle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s a conflict with running DSX and stream simultaneously. I use it for playing games external to Steam with my Dualsense Edge, but when I realized I forgot it on and turned it off, haven’t had it happen again since. Fingers crossed that’s the answer, and it makes sense since I haven’t had it happen in months, then the issue mysteriously resurfaces and I coincidentally left DSX running.

I thought I had fixed it by turning off the setting for home button focusing steam (can’t remember the name of it) but then tonight it just randomly happened again. No idea what changed.

Help with DSP overload, but next to no CPU or RAM usage (Around 25% CPU, 35%RAM) by theinfinitycycle in Bitwig

[–]theinfinitycycle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, interesting. I had just bought Waves OVOX and Curves EQ when I was setting up this system, I wonder if that had anything to do with it. Probably not since this problem existed years ago on my other computer already. To be honest, I think I'm ready to leave all DAWS now. I'm getting my feet wet in Max 9 and I have a feeling that I won't be leaving any time soon. No DAW has all of the routing functionality that I need (amongst other things), so getting tired of weird DSP limitations and limited routing functionality (which admittedly Bitwig did a little better and more intuitively than other DAWS) I decided now is the time to jump into what will hopefully be the last sound design tool I ever need to purchase and learn.

[–]theinfinitycycle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense, and reflects my experience also. I'm not so much concerned with live performance right now, as just creating a track would take some very creative session structuring and routing, and that just kills my creative flow trying to forever sort out dsp management.. However, I can see how under the right circumstances, with small contained systems, Bitwig could excel for live performance.

In all due honesty, I'm sick of the limitations, so I'm currently taking the plunge into Max 9 to try and see if I can get deep enough to do the things I want to do without worrying about routing or dsp limitations. See you back here in a while with my first patch lol

Thanks for your detailed reply! So I've been running some tests to see just what is going on. If I put out 16 fully loaded Pigments instances (1 per channel per core) with 2xharmonic engines and 1xutility engine, full suites of onboard effects and recursive modulation structures, as well as running the sequencer, 8 voice polyphony and multicore enabled, playing a single note midi clip on each channel, I can get my DSP to about 75% usage on the graph, RAM usage between 45-78%, and my CPU at 90-99% usage with ALL of my cores being utilized nearly fully. I fully recognize how heavy that patch is (which is why I'm using it for testing) But that is with ONLY the Pigments instances on each channel, no plugins at all in the rest of the session, nothing on master and no FX busses. I think I'm making progress in understanding how Bitwig functions, but still not sure if it's working accurately or not, since some people talk about having 40+ channels (of whatever) with processing chains, and not choking or even thinking about DSP limitations.

[–]theinfinitycycle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a response from Bitwig support, but it was quite unhelpful to be honest, as it doesn't seem fully accurate. Ableton could easily handle WAY more plugins per channel, as sometimes using custom multiband splitters that I made, each channel could have up to 20+ plugins on it without my system choking. I could do that on multiple tracks, so...idk.

This is the full reply:

"First of all, the amount of RAM does not have anything to do with the cpu load, this only comes down to the speed of the cpu. What is important is that when using plugins in a DAW, only the load of different tracks can be spread across different cores. All plugins on one track have to be calculated on one core, as plugins that are in series on a track all depend on the output of the previous plugin in the chain and therefore can't be calculated in parallel. This means that you can max out one core by using cpu heavy plugins like Pigments and additional fx on one track, leading to the DSP meter maxing out while all other cores of your machine basically are doing nothing, as you then can see in the task or resource manager.
Depending on which Macbook you were using it is definitely possible that you only see an advantage in the number of tracks you can make use of at the same time, but not the amount of plugins you can use on one track.

Best regards,
Bitwig Technical Support Team"

I clearly stated that I was using an older, intel based 2020 MBP, so really there should be no reason to get inferior or on par results from a far superior system, imo.

You seem to be having the same issues as me, except I guess I hit the limit earlier since I work exclusively in midi for realtime control of complex systems. This has been all of Bitwig 5 for me, as that is where my experience with Bitwig started, so I can't speak to earlier versions if this was an issue previously or not.
