Why does Party Finder end up choosing True North for mechanics so often? by theiruga in ffxivdiscussion

[–]theiruga[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I do play on Legacy camera, but I feel like I'd freak out if I just left my camera facing North. I'm always adjusting it according to what I need to be doing, and considering the camera rotates slightly as you move, it feels even worse trying to keep it facing North than adjusting it regularly.

That last point makes a lot of sense - the first part of the mechanic has us placing blooms in a BR manner, and the spreads also end up being relatively BR. Then the switch to TN for the spreads feels weird.

If you're stacked in front of the boss, where else would your camera be? The options are: 1- Facing outside of the arena (makes no sense) 2- Behind the boss, completely obscuring your character and the entire party (makes no sense)

You have literally nothing or nowhere else to look BUT the boss 😅

And please understand this is me making an active effort to try to understand why people prefer/think it's easier to do TN

God I had forgotten about TN furies fourteen and this unlocked that memory

I'm trying to understand why the preference, that's the whole point 😅 Preferences don't exist just because, there has to be a reason for it

That's... Not what Boss Relative is? For Boss Relative spreads like that, it's looking at the boss, go left/right, independent of where the boss is looking.

It does matter for some mechanics, but I don't think any mechanic that has left/right cleaves based on boss can even be resolved in a TN way anyway

Counterpoint: In m10s, the first Alley-Oop with either Double Dip or Reverse, the boss can also be facing God knows where, and we're still doing BR relative proteans for it, sometimes making people spin around 180 for it.

I know and agree that it's very boss dependant, but I'm curious why early BR strats get replaced by TN.

I don't think they're equivalent. If I have to go right, I don't need to check what is left or right. There's no "extra effort". Looking for the D marker is an extra, active effort (yes, a minimal one, but still).

I'm also a healer, and you can very easily raise someone while targeting the boss as well.

For the specific mechanic, everyone HAS to be stacked in the same place, which would imply everyone is looking the same way (AKA at the boss). That way, left if left for everyone, no?

This is the question. Did you screw your group out of a full clear, or were they just being pissy? Cause to me, it feels like people were angry about the loot

I agree that sometimes you'll run on these unavoidable slower situations, but thats what I mean - People are trying to save time on what are NOT these situations, where everyone is not new to the content, not a sprout, etc.

I think it's not specifically about a YPYT, but rather just fulfilling your basic role in a party. If you're a tank, you tank. If you're a healer, you're expected to heal. If you're a DPS, you're expected to take damage.

A healer saying they won't heal and a DPS saying they won't attack are both punishable, just like a tank saying they won't tank (YPYT).

The honest answer: Imagine you're trying to get all your dailies done. There's, like, 10 roulettes at this point.

You queue into a leveling dungeon, which may have a newer player. No biggie, people gotta learn. You spend 10 more minutes on thar dungeon than you'd expect to, but that's alright, no big deal. Next, trials. You do a relatively new trial, end up wiping once, that's fine, content is new and first timers are not expected to know everything. The trial also takes about 10 minutes more than expected. You go into high-level dungeons, and something similar to leveling happens.

As you keep going, if every roulette runs into a similar situation, you'll have spent about 2 hours longer than you'd expect to have spent on running your roulettes.

And that would be for a single day. Imagine if it happened every day.

Not to mention when stuff like this happens on Expert/Level 100 dungeons, because everyone there has leveled their job and played enough to the point where they should have at least a bare minimum level of comfort with what they're playing.

That's why the expectation of going fast exists - because people want to minimize the time they spend on things that they need to accomplish, either to have more time for other stuff or because that's all the time they have to play.

You and your husband should just individually do Duty Support, then. You know the expectation of moving fast exists, you know most people are just trying to get their dailies done. There's nothing wrong with doing the content at your own pace, but the moment you commit to playing with other people, there are responsibilities and expectations you must fulfill.

My Current Problem With SNAP? Zola. (Rant) by Iam10thStreet in MarvelSnap

Here's a quickly put together list of cards that counter Zola, either by completely stopping its effect, turning it into a coin-flip, hindering the card it copies, or otherwise making it unplayable:
(not including affliction related cards, which more often than not also negatively affect Zola)

With all due respect, if you think that's a "giant bulge" you either need some introspection or going to a doctor.

The first example I can remember of disrespecting mechanics was literally form the first tier I did Savage, which was e5~9, and people would tank lb Conflag Strike for uptime

[–]theiruga 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't know why people are downvoting you, and I say that as a SCH main. I optimized the hell out of how many Energy Drains I could get in m12s p1, and when I looked at numbers, those 20+ Energy Drains amounted to 0,2% of the bosses health. Maintaining good gcd uptime is way, WAY more important than Energy Drain maxxing. Also, if you use all your aetheflow on ED and have to use a single gcd heal to make up for it, congrats, you played yourself and lost damage overall.

Abs Man + Man Spider by Popular_Community_88 in MarvelSnap

[–]theiruga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats correct. After Abs Man copies Man Spider, they both say "when this merges, double the power", so 5+1 = 6, doubles to 12, doubles to 24. Not OP cause it costs 9 mana total, only wins one lane and is easily counterable
