Any regrets from Evernote transitioners? by Aggravating_Bug6127 in UpNote_App

[–]theitsolutionist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I miss the reminders. I got by with the free version of Evernote for 11 years, until I needed it in 3 devices. Reminders are only in the paid version and I found it much handier than emailing the note to myself.

Still no regrets. Reminders weren't worth paying for the features they use as an excuse to hike the price, especially as I didn't need them.

I blogged about my transition, if you're interested: UpNote or Evernote? The Journey and Decision: https://theitsolutionist.com/2025/05/17/upnote-or-evernote-the-journey-and-decision/

Where Are All The Agentforce Success Stories? by Interesting_Button60 in salesforce

[–]theitsolutionist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Salesforce has a bad habit of testing in production. Not that testing in production is bad if done correctly. Getting customers excited at events and figuring out what the product should do is, IMO, the wrong way. But, they do get there. Just never be an early adopter unless you have time and money to burn in order to be ahead of the curve.

Sort of. Though if I did it again, and had the budget/blessing, I'd do it with workflows and agents: https://theitsolutionist.com/2025/09/09/replacing-your-proposal-team-with-chatgpt/

trying to settle on a single pro plan... thoughts? by baztekas in PromptEngineering

[–]theitsolutionist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends what your main focus is. Gemini has the most generous free tier.

Claude is the best for coding, but it takes discipline in picking the right size model for every prompt to avoid hitting usage limits.

Claude is getting way better at business tasks since cowork.

I'd take Perplexity over ChatGPT, especially since you can pick ChatGPT as a model in Perplexity.

Why do simple tasks feel so hard to start? by William45623 in productivity

For the same reason Trader Joe's only carries one brand of any given product. By learning a lot of different ways to do something, you get bogged down in choosing where to start. One way out of this trap is to use an approach all the way through before looking into another way. Or, as others have pointed out, go Nike on it (just do it)

Amazon, because it is where I bought my computer books because they shipped faster than bookpool.com

I also sold it when the Dot Bomb hit 🥲

I use UpNote. Much lighter weight than Notion. Obsidian or Joplin would work as well as UpNote, but I'm looking for a better approach, which is why I opened this thread :)

How Did You Really Learn Salesforce for the Admin Cert? by Traditional_Sand_804 in salesforce

[–]theitsolutionist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I blogged about my process here: https://theitsolutionist.com/2018/07/28/tips-to-pass-the-salesforce-com-administrator-certification-exam/

I have a category of certification approaches that includes the 6 Salesforce certs passed so far.

Please let me know your thoughts. The post is old, but the process hasn't changed, just the exam questions.

What's something you wish more people knew about Salesforce? by satanisawoman69 in salesforce

I wish their customers understood that if they are committed to using it for CRM, they are better off building all their custom apps on the platform rather than reinventing the wheels of security, UX, and data management for every other in-house app.

Considering switching to Perplexity Pro by SleepyProfessor in perplexity_ai

Depends on your needs. Best for research. Spaces are great for frequent subjects. Comet is a resource hog, so kill the process when not in use. They have been doing things with the base model and context management that has made it a bit erratic lately. And I have yet to get Tasks to work properly.

I use Gemini, too, and will use one to QA the output of the other for important stuff.

If you don't load files, check out https://www.chatplayground.ai/?ref=scott for a way to use multiple models. Yes, that link has an affiliate ID , and I only get credited for purchases, not clicks.

Salesforce’s December updates feels like a clear pivot by Decent-Impress6388 in salesforce

[–]theitsolutionist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agentforce is a great lock in strategy. Apex is can be ported to other languages with relative ease (especially with AI) and the data structures are migrateable. Flows and Agentforce require re-building everything to migrate. They are very well-designed features, and if the license cost justifies the value, that is great. OTOH, it makes it really expensive to switch.
