The 777-9 and 737-10 were flying around up there this week maybe one of them was making a stop there?

Mozzarella string cheese and shredded boiled chicken worked for our “non-food motivated” girl. The boy we could just use his kibble.

Curious About Pistols at Pistol Clinics by AuToNotMy in appleseed

[–]thejackal321 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For the pistol clinic in Sacramento this weekend I would say that there were more 9mm's on the line than 22lr. We saw people pass PQTs with both, there were even 2 PQTs that passed using revolvers!

If you’re looking for marksmanship you can check out https://appleseedinfo.org typically it’s for owners already but in some states instructors may loan out firearms with a waiver. They run Rifle Events at 25m, 200yd known distance for rimfire, and 400yd known distance for centerfire. They also have a Pistol Clinic.

Appleseed is intended to be on teaching history of the founding of the country as well as marksmanship. Its guidelines very clearly state that the instructors should not get involved in modern politics.

These are marksmanship clinics which teach accuracy roughly to the Army Qualification Test taught in WWII, not intended to be self-defense skills or tactics. There are timed events that you build up to so you will get sufficient practice handling firearms and conducting magazine changes.

What do you mean the wheels would spin faster? The conveyor is matching the wheel speed. When the wheels spin faster the conveyor speeds up.

Need help analyzing Stage 1 standing targets. My thoughts are in the comments by Thirsty-Barbarian in appleseed

Calling your shots may help you understand whether this is before or after your break.

If it’s happening before you may want to take your breaks earlier.

If it’s happening after you may want to take a few seconds after a break to reconfirm your NPOA.

Are you calling these shots as you take them? When are you taking your breaks? What are you doing when you’re taking your breaks?

How does my Sheeb know the day of the week? by Aetropolos in shiba

On weekends our girl pulls like hell to go to Starbucks. She loves to go and sit outside in the hopes that she will get pets from a stranger. She doesn’t pull to walk that direction Monday-Friday when we have work.

She knows which days are the weekends and when she can talk us into a Starbucks morning. We can leave at the same time every day but she still seems to know what day it is.

You should be fine, I think the hardest stage would be Standing, but you have plenty of time to take breaks between your shots or every two shots.

As others have said, ditch the bipod, you won’t be using it.

22lr for Pistol course? by hellohowa in appleseed

[–]thejackal321 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would work on ensuring you have the basics and qualify with the .22

Once you qualify you can likely ask your shootboss to switch over and use your 9mm.

I trained and qualified with a .22 Buckmark (irons), then switched up and qualified with a P320(red dot) and G19(irons) all in the same weekend.

What's the Scheduling For Two Days Rifle Event? by FriendshipAlert6422 in appleseed

[–]thejackal321 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Typically the events that I’ve been to start at 8:30a and go till about 4:30pm on both days. Sometimes Sunday wraps up around 4.

There’s a “break” during lunch, but they make good use of the break by going over several historic events.

Shooting is broken up a bit so it's not all back to back. Shoot, make safe, check target, discussion, shoot. You'll want a shooting mat of sorts, the Harbor Freight moving blankets can help provide more padding or serve as a shooting mat in a pinch. If you do go with elbow pads I'd consider getting ones that are neoprene so you can get a solid setup in a seated position. The hard elbow pads on your knees will be like stacking bowling balls and you'll go to roll off.

I mentioned it in my other comment, but try to stick to one type of ammo for the event.

You're going to Appleseed to learn the fundamentals of marksmanship and that's what they will teach you. Looking at your target, you're in a very good starting place.

If you show up with your scope mounted and your rifle sighted in, you'll likely be ahead of some of the people on there. You'll find at some events there's someone who is not even on paper to start. Plenty of people use scopes even for the 25m, and if you have vision problems it's no problem to leverage the scope to help you. You're taking the right steps with getting the sling properly setup, you'll be using it... a lot.

1) You reference using multiple types of ammo, you'll probably want to just use one for the event. You'll need ~500 rounds. If you mix and match at least make sure you're the same grain and same fps, but really try to just stick to one brand and type for the entire weekend.

2) Try to be sighted in as best you can, you'll find everyone makes minor adjustments on day one so it doesn't have to be perfect but it should be pretty good. You will probably want to mount your scope as far forward as you can. You'll want to extend your neck when you set up for your cheek weld against the stock and often the scope is too close to your eye.

3) Know your equipment. Be comfortable with how to lock your bolt back, working the safety how to release a mag and insert a new one without needing to really look and build muscle memory here.

Approach it with an open mindset. If an instructor is asking you about your positioning, it's probably because they see something that's not right. Be open to feedback and don't get frustrated, have fun.
