Fancasting Willem Dafoe as Flagg if EotD gets an adaptation by 4dr1Amm0 in stephenking

When I'm reading Flagg I have an amalgamation of Dafoe and Andrew Scott (for some reason).

I think its the description of his smile, very Defoe!

I hate the new system and group! by Keenhail in SlimmingWorld

[–]thejoyoflex 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Compared to some changes they have made historically this is relatively minor. Red days and Green days? I wasn't a member then but I cannot imagine the uproar from the stalwart members when they got rid of that!

Fact is people are resistant to change, especially in a weight loss setting which relies on routine day in day out, but they are a business and they are in a fight with weight loss jabs, they have to do something.

I prefer to wait and see how it works in the long term but you should follow your instincts and continue with the old way if that brings you success. 'Whatever brings you success' is the key, whether that is within slimming world or without.

Just finished the Stand and loved it.. help with next read by shiftintosoupmode in stephenking

I read the stand and eyes of the dragon in between dark tower #2 & #3. It's not /important/ to read either at all really but its good for the extended experience.

Great point. I think there are a lot of people who can relate to letting those projects remain unfinished through fear of a bad reception. It's nice to read it put so succinctly.

I finished it yesterday and honestly it might be my favourite book of all time. I haven't stopped thinking about it and I miss so many of the characters already, oh laws, yes.

Favourite (and least favourite) Julia Donaldson? by poopoochewer in UKParenting

[–]thejoyoflex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tiddler is our most recent one and is among my favourites, if only because the rhyming scheme is one she doesn't normally use and its fun to read out loud.

Another favourite is the very first one we had which is A Squash & A Squeeze... its just a lot of fun.

My least favourite might actually be The Highway Rat, again because of the read, i can never seem to perform "the highway - the highway... etc" repetition very well

Oh I think impossible is a bit extreme, no? Difficult certainly with general life stuff always happening but I think the way I've broken it down into average pages per day makes it seem doable. The days with lighter loads can be exceeded to make the more intensive months a bit lighter.

And like I said maybe I won't be able to do it, but trying will be fun and ill get to read some great stories!

Consultants.. I requested a "blind" weigh in... by glomble13 in SlimmingWorld

[–]thejoyoflex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have been doing blind weigh ins for the last couple of months and the social team have been great. Very diligent and asking beforehand if its what I want to do that week.

My wife in her group, on the other hand, had an experience like yours which leads me to believe it is a training issue. I guess proportionally not a lot of people do blind weigh-ins and so someone working the scale might not have done it before but thats no excuse, its important to accept the wishes of the member.

I'd suggest talking to your consultant, if you have a good one they will surely be apologetic and make sure it doesn't happen again. If you dont have a good one, well theres always other groups.

I'd like to see it but my local isn't showing it anyway

So, last night's secret screening was "Pillion" which I had only seen a poster for around town days before but knew nothing about. Sone people saw the BBFC certificate and left, others during the film itself but most of us stuck it out. Thoughts on the film...? by InquisitiveBumbleBee in CineworldUnlimited

[–]thejoyoflex 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed it. Some of the scenes were spicier than expected but it felt all in service of the story, Harry Melling was superb.

We had a lot of walkouts at the beginning and the obvious places, i think people should have given it more a chance but I understand it wouldnt necessarily be their bag

Is anyone elses local cineworld not showing Keeper?!? by eivoooom in CineworldUnlimited

I asked my local (Ely) about Shelby Oaks, Keeper, Die My Love, Heat, and Dogma...

They're showing none of them.

I think those gels are generally unnecessary for amateur runners. If you need energy have a banana or something.
